  1. SunnyCaliRN I got those same e-mails and I too am scheduled for the "Sign-up Session" on the 30th so maybe we will be seeing each other there! :) Exciting stuff!
  2. SunnyCaliRN I think you're right about the different units doing it out of order because my process went like yours did, ,minus the phone calls after the initial conditional offer. I got several emails about the skill survey and one from one of the interviers that was also sent to the rest of the cohort welcoming us in general. I did six just because one was taking so long so I asked one of my current coworkers. They all finished their references at the end of December. So I hate that I haven't gotten a follow up or anything. Sooooo nerve wracking.
  3. I'm so sorry @houseblew. Much luck to you!
  4. Well that makes me feel a little better. Let's keep each other updated SunnyCaliRN and icumurse26! According to a previous post on this thread, January 6th was when they would be making final selections after the reference step so we have about a week. The order it went for me was interview. Call from the people I interviewed with 4 days after the interview offering me a "conditional" offer of one of the positions, pending my SkillSurvery reference completion. So my last reference finished 12/26 and I just want my official offer already:cry: I don't live in the SF Bay Area so I've already given my 30 days notice to my current residence AND job. Not getting the job at this point would be quite devastating. Lol.
  5. My status just says "Applied". I'm wondering if anyone who was offered a position, completed the SkillSurvey reference check has heard back at all and gotten the official job offer? I feel weird celebrating without an official offer. I don't feel like anything my references said could have been bad. But still I'm hoping this whole thing is going so slowly because of the holidays :/
  6. Thank you baytobreakers! It is! I just can't believe it. I have a years couplet care experience. I agree. I felt like whatever their decision was I just needed to know what direction I was going in. Because so much heart and expectation goes into these applications! I wish you the best and hope something comes around for you too! Thanks so much for your kind words.
  7. Got my job offer today ya'll. Anyone else for perinatal services? :happy dance:
  8. Thank you so much! Yeah mine was just barely 45 mins.
  9. My interview was with the unit manager and an RN whose managing the applications. They said there was a lot of amazing resumes they had to narrow from and the amount of applications was high. They confirmed for the perinatal cohort 6 total openings for the 16 they interviewed they are done interviewing for perinatal is the feel that I got. I thought the interview went well! They were very personable. Easy to talk to and that always helps because I was so nervous! But the perinatal cohort should be finding out as early as a week to January 6th if they got one of the positions or if they want to do a 2nd round interviews! Gah
  10. Thank you freckles RN! I don't have a clue! I didn't ask and to be honest I sort of dont want to know. It doesn't change anything except possibly freak me out. I have to be focused for this one. ?
  11. SFbaynurse, I got the call yesterday morning. I hope you do too! It's the only area I applied to so I'm hoping it pans out
  12. I've received an interview for Perinatal services. They're only interviewing for L&D this week and next is what I was told. ? So nervous. This would be an amazing opportunity.
  13. That is some tough competition! Sorry you think it's could have gone better. But you never know! Don't be too hard on yourself. This whole thing is nerve wracking as its such an amazing opportunity!
  14. Good luck to you EquestrianRN! I really do hope you and your family will be happy here :) I think Williston, ND has been many people's "saving grace". There really are many opportunities for work here. I come from a big city so I find all the greenery nice, even though it all will all be covered with snow soon! The hospital is building apartments as well. They should be opening in early October if you can get there. They're supposed to be fairly priced.
  15. Also, apparently I don't post enough to reply to private message people back. So sorry. I'm working on it :)
  16. I highly doubt our CNAs make that much at Mercy. New grads RN BSNs start off in the low $20s depending on the unit/specialty. Going the Mercy's ER for codes/trauma alert/codes is the only time I see the ER but I know those nurses are always busy, and they'd prefer the ER RNs to have experience, obviously. But I'm sure they'd train the right person as we are fairly short staffed.
  17. Yeah I went to school in the Bay Area too and I'm wondering where you went?
  18. Hey! I'm working in Williston, ND. Housing is a huge challenge. Wages do not accurately reflect the current cost of living of the town. Hospital has several open positions however and they hire new grads. PM me for any other questions ?

Hey! Yes I was hired onto L&D, which is my dream unit. I am liking it very much. The people are very helpful and friendly and always willing to answer my questions no matter how dumb they may seem to me, not to mention constant! Lol. Let me know if I can help in any way and feel free to ask my questions :) good luck!

Yup Craigslist. And the local classified paper (the Shopper) I know there are a few creeper ads but my best advice is to be diligent in checking over and over again as the times grows near. Housing this year SHOULD be better because of all the new construction, at least in my area. But who knows if it will be affordable. Just be optimistic and good luck! :)

Just to give ya'll an update: I am currently renting a room out $700/month. It is a few blocks from Mercy Medical so it's perfect. It is freezing up here but if you dress appropriately then it's totally doable. Plus, it's not like you'll be hanging around outside very much. This room is temporary until I can find something more permanent for my family. I am seriously considering buying a house, since there are so many for sale in the area. Deltado: No, my family and I are here primarily because I got a job at the hospital. We are not here for the oil.

I have put my application into a few apartment complexes that are set to open soon. But it is actually quite a challenge. I don't mind. I refuse to believe it will be harder than finding a job. I'll let you know if it works out. My starting monthly salary would be around $3700 but I have the help of my boyfriend so we are trying hard to be able to afford ND, just so I can get the experience. And I will definitely look that up! Thanks for the reply!

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone could give me any general statements/opinions on living and working in ND. I recently got my first RN job at Mercy Medical Center in Williston. The online reviews weren't too nice about the care here but I know those are relative. I'm relocating from CA and can already see how challenging finding affordable housing will be (Hopefully, not more difficult than it was to find a job!). Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it as bad as it seems? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  24. UPDATE: I had that most uncomfortable conversation with the DON and she was very straightforward with me regarding what the company could currently afford. Basically, they couldn't afford what I was asking for. And if I wanted to stay at the high end of what they were offering, then they could only schedule me part-time or less. If I were to work at the cheaper end of what they offered, I'd be full-time. I am still working through negotiating with them but I'm kind of disappointed. I was expecting my first nursing job to help establish my finances a little bit. And by the looks of it, this job holds it's weight in whatever non-acute experience it will get me. For now, I'm going to take it but continue with me 5 to 10 applications per day... Boo... Thanks to everyone once again!
  25. I have recently interviewed with a particular hospital in North Dakota and I'm curious if this one falls into the category of your alluded to hospitals, marcos9999. Not to be a nosey nose, but do you mind sending me some more specified information as well? My finance is set to start oil work in the area and it'd be nice for me to work in the same state. Thank You!
