I haven't heard anything from my co-worker...she still has time though. They don't make the final cuts until first week of November. I know a friend of a friend who got accepted and is from Minnesota. I think he is going...Are they going to send us financial aid stuff soon?

There is another nurse on my unit that applied to BC as well. I'm not sure if she has heard yet....When did you interview? Mine was Sept 26th... I wonder if we met? :-)

forgot the CCSU part.... Again, the same thing with Pawtucket. There is housing available right in the area of New Britain that is available. People stay in NB during the class week and commute home on the weekends. There is a place across the street from New Brit General called "the gas house" which a lot of students stay in, but it did not come highly recommended from students. I am orginally from that area of CT and NB can be a little seedy (they don't call it hard hittin' New Britain for nothing), but I know there are better options available. West Hartford is right next door and there are some very nice areas there.

Hi gluck, When I interviewed at MHRI I spoke with one of the students regarding this issue. I live in Boston and didn't know if the commute was possible. Both the student and the director told me that most people if they live in Boston or further get an apartment with another student in Pawtucket (just to live for the week and commute home on the weekend). The big issue is when you are on call during the program. If you live 20min or closer to the hospital, it is not a problem. If you live more than 20min away, you have to stay at the hospital that day/night. Basically, there are many options for housing...you can choose to live in an apartment, there is hopsital housing available as well or there is the on call room...or you can choose to commute. The students just said commuting gets very old very fast with the busy schedule. Hope this helps...

No clinical questions. They give you a very nice overview in the first part of the interview. (you all sit together in a room and watch a very nice video) and then they go over the program. You meet with students while you are waiting for one of your two interviews. I was very impressed with their program even though it is new. :-)

Hey! I had my interview at BC at the end of Sept. You first meet with the program director and then the assistant director. They basically ask you questions like "Talk about a stressful situtaion....a ethical situtaion....why this program instead of a MSN..." I know this might seem really easy to soon other schools interviews, but you really have to have well thought out answers. A clinical based interview you can sort of study for and there are hard facts. Here, there is no wrong or right answer, but hopefully it is something they want to hear. I also am applying to New Britain. I here they are a more clinically based interview with actual drug questions, SWANS, etc. Anyone know about Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island? Hello Everyone! I am going for an interview at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Anyone heard anything about the interview? Is anyone in this program or know anything more about it? I am really curious to know how the clinicals really work since they make it seem like you do a lot of clinicals in Mass, which would be great for me since I live in Boston. Any information would be wonderful!

Acutally, the top paying hospital for RN's in Boston is Dana Faber, then Brigham and Women's. They are pretty close, but b/c the Faber is so specialized in Onc, they pay the best. Beth Israel is a salary based hospital which is pretty unusal. I think they run about $50,000 a year. Children's pays ~$23/hr. Mass General which is also Partners affilated like the Brigham, but not unionized, just got a raise and is now also $23/hr. Majority of hospitals in Boston have very compet. pay. I currently work at the Brigham which has treated my very well. The diffs are great too. I would recommend picking a boston hospital to work at based on if you like the floor/etc rather than pay since it all kind of works out to be the same.

Is the insurance expensive...(affordable?)

Do something... all of these other nurses have great suggestions... I was assulted once and didn't do anything because I thought that I had no power because i was a nursing student. Boy was I wrong....I really wish I had done something....

Question: Do CRNA's need malpractice insurance like MD's?

Hi- I currently attend Simmons College Nursing School in Boston and I am also interested in Northeastern's CRNA program. I know that it has a very good reputation..it has been est. since 1968. I spoke with Northeastern and there are about 30 people in each class. Clinicals are at major city hospitals. Interview is required. 1 year of SICU experience if preferred, MICU will be taken as well. Northeastern does not have much of a (pretty) campus since it is right in the middle of a city block. The total cost of northeastern's program is nearly $50,000. Not cheap, but what grad school is? As compared with Boston College's program (which i don't know much about, but i'm sure it's good), which is 3 years old, they only accept 13 students for each class. Both have programs that are almost identical. It is way out on the B line trolley and has a beautiful campus. I am not aware of how much $$ BC is but I'm sure it's similar to NEU. Come to boston...it's fabulous...go sox!
