ADN or BSN
I had a degree in public administration as well before I became a nurse. Just get a quick 2 year degree, become a nurse and finish the bsn online if you like. Thats what I did. It worked out very well for me. Applying to jobs with an ADN and my first degree really made me stand out in the crowd. Most nurses dont have education in other fields. I was able to pay for my bsn without taking any loans. The ADN easily pays for itself as well as the bsn. Take advantage of it before they get rid of it. National Nursing organizations want the ADN phased out to prevent too many people from too easily becoming nurses.

European nurse seeking job in NYC - any job that requires a medical background!!!
You are going to have to wait till that license comes through. Things are tight with the job market. You got LPN's, CNA or former now retired nurses doing medical secretary positions till things open up. So its tight for everyone. Keep pushing though. Have you thought about possibly volunteering? That way you might be able to get around some hiring managers once your license comes through as well as have a resume with american hospital work. Good Luck

Demand More Diversity in NYC Hospitals
I'm graduating in may and was lucky enough to be given a verbal offer of employement by a local hospital in nyc. So it makes sense that I've been spending alot time there and at other hospitals in the city. What makes me upset is the fact that many hospitals in NY do not have SPANISH speaking nurses, Doctors or Secretaries!! I dont get it!! How can you be a nurse in NYC and not speak spanish? As a black man who grew up in bronx, I see NY as a multicultural paradise where employement should reflect the diversity of the community. So I ask you all to demand more diversity in your hospitals here in the City! Its only going to make things better!

Giving Up on Nursing
How old are you? Where did you do that associates? Where did you do that BSN? Have you been volunteering at medical facilities to keep your resume up to date? Do you have a criminal record? If you cant get hired in NY. I dont know what to tell you. I was hired before I even graduated nursing school. Hospitals here are in desperate need. Do you speak spanish? Are you willing to learn? I mean you gotta be positive and look for ways to make yourself valuable. All the best.
