  1. Just a note of encouragement for those on the Waitlist AND those that received 'Not Accepted' emails. I'm in AP-Cohort 7, and there were quite a few addeed in the weeks following emails, right up until the week before we started. The Dean called each person added, so keep checking email, but also keep the phone ringer up. What we found was that waitlisted persons are usually partnered, and they are waiting for seats to open at that site. While some of those added were originally waitlisted, the majority were non-partnered that originally received denial emails. Partnered is an advantage, in that they are the first accepted. The drawback to being partnered, is that you are limited to that site. The non-partnered people received calls before those waitlisted, and were given a choice between sites with open seats. Take heart, whatever situation applies to you, there is a good chance you will get a call. To those already accepted, start NOW!! Get organized, get your books as soon as possible, and start reading. Current students can guide you on what to start reading first. Spend time with friends/family now, because once you start, your life is all about studying and clinicals. If you get to spend time with friends/family after you start, you just spend your time thinking you need to study. It's doable, but start ahead of the game. Read now.
  2. Congrats Shenfield37! I'm wondering if you have received your acceptance/orientation email yet. I was called Wed and they said it would be Thurs or Friday. I haven't received it yet, how about you? I know it sounds silly, but I really want to see the acceptance in writing. ;-) What hospital did they partner you with?
  3. To: MEGREEN Not really. It's 2 hours north of where I live, but my grandparents have a house 30 minutes from there, so I will stay there on clinical days. When they called, they said clinical days would likely be 2 days a week, so I will make it work. If I remember right, you work at Harris-FW, right? Doing Special Admissions? I was hired at HEB and was wondering if you have heard anything about when Alliance will open and if there will be an option to transfer there. I live 5 minutes from the new Alliance hospital. Also, is THR flexible with allowing change in schedule? Like I was hired to work nights on Friday/Saturday, how easy is it to move around, change shifts and days that you work? Sounds like clinical days will change each semester and I'm hoping the hospital job will work with me.
  4. Texoma Medical Center in Texoma. Were you called off the wait list MEGREEN?
  5. Actually Nikki, I'm not partnered. I was just offered a job at THR last week, but UTA didn't know anything about that. I was hoping to increase my chances of getting in for Spring. Thanks for the congrats, don't think it will sink in until I get the official orientation information.
  6. I got the call today...I'm in for Fall AP. It still feels unreal. Also, for those that want GPA information and considerations that were used in ranking...the Advisors won't email it to you...but they will send it to you on a degree plan via regular mail. Good luck to all, hope your call comes soon.
  7. this is from an email with my advisor at uta. me: as far as partner hospitals, it appears that it is based on facility, and not necessarily the company, is this correct? what i mean is, do you have to work at that specific facility to be partnered? (example: partner-thr fw. if i get a job at thr-heb, then i'm still not considered partnered, correct?) advisor: that is correct. the specific facilities that are listed on the scheduled partnered hospitals list that i sent you are the only facilities in those hospital systems that are currently scheduled to be partnered with the college of nursing. okay, so given this information, is anyone feeling like its a rat race to get and stay partnered?
  8. MEGREEN, Sorry for the off-topic everyone, but I'm not able to send messages yet. I have interview at THR for Special Admissions on Wed. Can you or anyone else working in this position tell me what the pay range is for this position. I was told they would ask, but I haven't a clue on what that position should pay. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, T.
  9. I've been applying to THR since November last year and haven't received a call for anything, not even an interview. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions. What position did you apply for? I apply for everything that's listed, but find it odd that they have never called. Any help is appreciated.
  10. Does anyone know where I could get a list of the hospitals partnered with UTA? I'm aware of Texas Health, JPS and Baylor. Are there any others? Thanks in advance.
  11. Just wanted to say hi to the group. I'm also waiting for a decision on Fall 2012. It's been a long wait. I'm taking pathophysiolgy and pharmacology now, which is keeping me busy. Will only need to take my Nursing elective after this. 3.75 Science GPA and 89 on HESI. I'm hoping to get in on my first application, but I'm not partnered, and what I've read means that will make it harder. Nice to meet you all and look forward to conversing. Teressa
