If you are still interested in attending the LVN Program at Kaplan, I'd be happy to give you some advice for the testing. I was in the program at Kaplan in San Diego. There is a pre-test (I believe 25-30 questions) that they give you on the computer when you go and meet with a counselor to see where you fall. I believe to even be considered for the LVN program you have to score at least a 22. This could have changed, however. Once you've passed that, then you will have to take the HESI. I didn't do so hot in math (70%) but I excelled in everything else, bringing my overall grade to an 89%. You can definitely still be accepted even if math isn't your strong suite. =) Good luck with whichever path you may choose.

Hi lvnreadyform...are looking into El Camino's program as well? Are you currently taking any other classes there? I just got off the phone with a counselor there who used to be a nursing counselor and she gave me some advice to get into any 1 unit course asap as I will have a better chance of getting into the 2 Nursing courses that you need to be enrolled in, in order to apply for the program. If you already go there, you're good, but if not, maybe this will help you too!! =) Let me know how this all pans out for you, good luck as well!!

I know this is an old thread, but I am starting at ISP in March for Anat/Phys and Micro. I am looking at local CC ADN programs. Has anyone found that most CC's accept ISP's credits? Any help is appreciated, thank you!!!

It is really nice to know that we are not alone out there! I am also a mom with a husband and a 4 year old daughter. I am starting my pre-req's next month and currently do not hold a Bachelors in anything else so I am starting fresh. I currently work full time and we have actually moved in with my mother in law to save our rent for me to be able to attend school full time once I get into a program. I know it will be hard but the end result will be so fulfilling. I cannot wait to see my baby girls and husbands face when I walk across the stage!! Good luck to everyone on the journey. I was originally a student at ULV where I completed some college credits (equivilant to Freshman) in 2007. I did not do well at all and ended with a 2.5 GPA. I was enrolled in Anatomy but received a "W" since I ended up getting pregnant my sophomore year and withdrew to focus on my new little family. I figure this one "W" will count against me. I am now re-enrolled at http://www.integratedscienceprogram.com/accelerated-science-courses/ where I am taking Anat/Phys and Micro. I know that I will do great, even though it will be tough since it is accelerated but I am in a completely different mind set now. I see most schools now require Psych and Speech as well?? I am looking into El Camino College Compton Campus in hopes that they just require Anat/Phys and Micro. Does anyone have any advice for me? Even though I originally did poorly, is there still hope? Thanks in advance for any responses!!
