  1. First keep an open mind keep your mouth shut and before you go to work...READ and re-read the best self-help book given to us.. PROVERBS in the Bible. You will not be able to handle every situation at first. Expect you are not PERFECT...but according to that afforementioned book...we are forgiven. &-D.
  2. HELLO OTHER Nurse. I too am totally disgusted with what I call the "ENTITLEMENT VIRUS". I have a BSN 37 yrs of Nursing experience. I have just recently been called a "C" word. had a urinal thrown at me...full of course. It would be bearable if I was included in the clique that used to be called a "team" but I am an older Nurse so I am excluded and have REALLY been bullied... I have been reported "anonymously" to the State requiring an investigation. not once, not twice but three times. Talk about horizontal VIOLENCE. All this drama is just a deja vue to the factory mentality promoted by Henry Ford. It is just a red herring to keep us down. So Florence N would turn over in her grave. We are going to be managers of M.A's and we will be a dime a dozen. Forget this crisis...Read PROVERBS at least once a week. I do not presume that you are a Bible reader but PROVERBS is the best "self-help" book I have ever read. Make sure you have a good support system outside of work.God Bless.
  3. Being well grounded is always important in nursing. Psych nurses need to have a terrific support system. It really helps to have a good team to work together. Unfortunately psych nurses often do meds all day and bed checks repetitively. Important functions to say the least and often clients will act out so you can have drama on the unit. There are many responsibilities usually in job descriptions outlined for each discipline.Good luck in your career and remember boundaries are there for a reason
  4. I am with you. You need to have the patient medicated. We are trained to be critical thinkers...right?
  5. Hello. I would just make sure I was talking to my sponsor. Do a step 1 again. Why are you isolating? going into these situations is so stressful with all the stereotypes agism dui history mental health it is just tough enough . I wish you Gods speed and hope for you that this too will be a learning experience. Pleasant is not in the verbage of Nursing...at least my 37yrs lol. Soul building providing comfort doing good works making a difference. the other is comeraderie. also HONESTY, OPENNESS AND WILLING...how. You must honor your process. Again God Speed and all you have to do is stay sober...Say hi hi to puppy!
  6. you need to learn the difference between "BASIC" and "PHASIC". Basic to a situation is what it is ALWAYS...Nurses are always asked to do more....always always. Phasic is when a situation is only occasional...occasionally Nurses will have a day when they are not expected to be a codependent in an intolerable situation. You need to stop feeling guilty and put your priority on what is BASIC in your life...your own family. Good Luck. you did not create this situation..do not continue to perpetuate it.
