  1. I actually was able to get a job doing something called clinical escalations for a vendor company that does annual health visits for a few insurance companies. So far I love it, All I do is receive clinical escalations from NPs and PAs after the in home assessment and send them over to the insurance company. I keep track of what I get for data purposes, but overall its great. I work from home and its all computer. My title is clinical escalation manager. This is very different and I'm glad I was able to get it. I am a RN with about 10 years experience and prior to that I did WC case management.
  2. Been there 9 years and never heard of that.
  3. I say the house, you dont want to open any new loans while trying to get that mortgage approval. it makes more sense, you already have a job and you can go back to school after you get your house situation taken care of
  4. I actually been doing both , it's not too bad it beats working in the hospital, I say give it a try.
  5. definately oral surgery, you will get burnt out quickly with LTC and it's such a liability, don't do it to yourself!!!!
  6. I think this is common in the nursing profesion. Could it be because this is a female dominated profession and we are known for being catty and petty. I mean you never see doctors doing to each other, half of what we do. That is why I prefer night shift. We all work together and don't have time for the nonsense. Maybe because we are too tired to be stressed. I don't see the need to try to tell on someone unless they are not doing their work and leaving things to be dumped on you.

I say go for the one closer to home, it's more money in the long run, less mileage and gas. I think your manager would understand. Stay per diem and if you realize you don't like the other job, you probably can switch back
  8. I never have a problem, but I am worse off, I work 2 jobs so once I leave my night shift, I go to another job sometimes to come back that night, and to be honest it doesnt feel like I have been missing sleep, I only feel it when it is time to go to bed than I 'm gone.
  9. Sorry about your health issues, maybe you can look into working with the developmentally disabled population, there is a company called hudson valley ddso I hear the work is pretty easy
  10. So far so good, been there almost 6 months and still kept my other job
  11. and eventually working from home will be an option, so that makes it much sweeter.
  12. I have been in the telephonic nurse case manager position for about 4.5 months and so far so good. I am currently working both jobs and love both jobs. I am doing telephonic for an insurance company in workers compensation. I mean M-F no weekends or holidays and this is definately something to have if I get tired of bedside nursing. The only thing you might not like about it depending on where you go, your case load may be high. Some of the nurses I work with have a case load up to 100. But i look at it like, I do the best I can and no one is gonna die, this is not an ICU. I like my hospital job and was not ready to leave the hospital so I choose to do both. I have adjusted to sleeping less but I feel it is worth it. Hope this Helps
  13. thanks for your reply I think I will go for it
  14. I am a floor nurse working in a major teaching hospital for the past 6 years which I enjoy. I am working on a subacute rehab unit and make about 84000 a year and work 12 hours night shift 3x week. I also have been offered a telephonic case manager position for liberty mutual. I am very interested in doing this because i I do have an interest this type of job and it's hard to get into especially since I have no prior case management experience. my thought is I would test drive this position out to see if i like it before thinking of going part time at the hospital. I don't think i want to do bed side forever because it is tiring and I feel if I pass this opportunity up it won't come again but i am just concerned will i like it and how it will balance with kids. any thoughts would be appreciated
