  1. Hey yall! Its the first day of classes just a few things to remember. 1. Teachers are there to help. It is never too soon to ask for help! Its better to come to them when you don't understand the material than when you have to review a failed exam with them. 2. Don't be afraid to ask an upper level for help, they've been where you are right now. 3. Don't be afraid to try new things, in Sim lab, clinical, whatever. Chances are everyone in your group is just as clueless as you are, go have some fun!! Good luck yall!!
  2. So I took advice and went onto the Saunder's question bank review and did some questions. My average here is around 64-78 versus Kaplan which was in the high 50s. I feel a lot better now!
  3. I'm going through the Hurst content review and taking a Kaplan quiz from the qbank daily with brand new questions each time. I'm consistently hitting 40s with Health promotions and maintenance. Everywhere else I am sitting around the 60s. I have the Saudner's 6th edition book right here, it was given to me for christmas, but I haven't opened it. I'm scared of using too many resources, but I have a look in that section. Thank you all for your insight!! I really hope all this pays off
  4. Thank you so much everyone for your advice and reassurance! I'm studying Hurst's content and doing Kaplan qbank and I'm hoping what I am doing will pay off. I am scoring VERY low like in the 40s with health promotion and maintenance, does anyone know how I can better my score with that portion?
  5. I posted this earlier and did not get a reply, hopefully someone could give me some insight this time I bought the kaplan qbank and have been doing questions daily but I keep getting high 50s to mid 60s. I am using the hurst review to I'll have a little bit of both to grasp from. Every time I tell this to someone they say I'm okay, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!? I'm far from okay, I"m freaking out! My test is Jan 20th and I am so scared.
  6. Memorial Hermann in Houston here. My tentative start date is Jan 16th >.
  7. I applied for PearsonVue a week before Thanksgiving, I'm not sure if that is early enough. My school does ATI predictor tests instead of HESI and I received a 95% predictability of passing nclex on the first try. I don't know if that is reliable or not. Would it be stressful to start the job then take the test?
  8. Hey guys I am a nervous wreck right now and I think I need some guidance. So here is the background. I graduate in Dec 12th and will start my GN job on Jan 16 in a different city. I will be moving in also. I only need a GN permit to work but I was hoping to take the nclex before I start so I don't have to worry about it during the move and starting work. Is that too early? I've scheduled the following to help me with the process. Dec 15-17th Hurst review Dec 18th - Jan 4th: NCSBN reviews and ATI online prep with a coach (maybe Saunders book instead?) Jan 5-8th Kaplan in seat review Jan 9th & 10 practice questions of ncsbn, kaplan, hurst and saunders nclex some time between the 11th and 15th. How does that sound? I already signed up for an apartment, in retrospect that is stupid. I'm worried if I fail I wont have a job and thats a big problem.
  9. Yay! I hope you hear back from them soon!!
  10. MedSurg on the Northwest campus. They're still calling people for the internships. I believe the fellows' second interview will be happening soon, good luck!
  11. have yall heard anything back? I accepted an offer at Memorial Hermann because they never got back to me in time.
  12. Hey I'm just stopping by to check in on yall. I heard from a traditional student that yall are going to have to buy the box set either online or hard copies. If you don't have to buy it then do not buy it. My roommate saved tons buying the books by themselves on amazon. I also heard yall are going to have to go through Sim Chart, I hate sim chart, I'm just going to apologize before hand for that. Side note earlier when I talked about jobs. It is definitely possible to get a job out side of Tyler after you graduate. I've just accepted one in Houston. You just have to start early in job hunting. I started in September, some places have their applications up for 3 days thats it. but it is possible! Also, if yall are on campus Dec 2nd you're welcomed to come to the end of the year NSNA meeting in the nursing building. Its pretty much a party, bring a gift ( pm me if you need the room number.
  13. This is just to revive this thread. How are you guys on the interviewing process? I just accepted an offer for the internship at northwest last friday.
  14. Have yall heard anything yet? My friend said she called and they told her there isn't one this time.
  15. I would like to know too, I heard they really needed people but so far nothing.
