  1. Hi! As the title suggests, my family has recently come to the acceptance that it is time to put my grandmother in a skilled nursing facility. She has been living in a senior independently living facility and up until a few months ago was functioning decently with family checking on her every few days. Well her memory has now detoristed to the point where she forgets to eat, take her meds, and even clean herself after going to the restroom. She's become incontinent and needs pt a few times a week as well. She has Medicare andwe are trying to find the best care for her without going into debt ourselves. When we begin meeting with diffent facilities, what are things we should be looking for as a sign its a loving place vs. a place to run for the hills. What are any buzz words we should pick up on? Or what do you wish you could tell your resident's family to be weary of when choosing a home? She is the first one in our family to go through so many issues and need extra care that we are not able to provide with her moving in with us, so I thank you in advance for your advice and help during this difficult time!! And thank you for compassionately caring for people like my grandma :)
  2. Wow it's going to be a small group. 3 from float, 2 from icu and no one so far on here from tele?
  3. mdthenurse, how did your interview go today?
  4. What about if you have an out of state drivers license? Will they accept that?
  5. Yeah, mine still says "in progress". I think they leave it like that until they have chosen their final candidates and their background checks have all cleared. From what I've heard by others in the past it then it changes to "position filled" or "declined" depending. This way, if by some chance the people they interview are not good fits with the organization or if all of their background checks don't come back clean (which would never happen), then they could still technically interview one of us who got the email. It does say in the email that they would contact us if there were any other opportunities in the future.... like that would actually happen. Haha! Anyway, good luck to all of you still in the running, and to everyone else in their job search :)
  6. I got the "we've considered your application but have decided to peruse other applicants" email today at 4. Good luck to those still in the running!!!
  7. When making roommate assignments, just remember the patient in the question is always "clean".. or else they wouldn't be able to get a roommate. So you can't put a "clean" patient with a "dirty" patient.. such as c.diff or anything that could transmit to the clean patient.. or even a patient who is considered "potentially dirty".. such as a patient who has frequent loose stools.. we assume something is going on, but don't know for sure, so he would be a potential. So just find the patient who is clean (even the aids patient), and they can be roommates :) Good luck!!
  8. Any word yet on how they will notify those of interviews? Phone calls, emails, smoke signals in the sky?? :) Just wish we had more information.
  9. YES! I keep thinking.. well if interviews start on the 23rd through the first few weeks of August.. then surely they would start calling soon, right?? However, judging from previous posts and other hospitals too.. there is really no telling when they will make any sort of decision. For now, I just keep hoping and praying and trusting that something good will open up for us all!!
  10. The post isn't on here anymore due to the server failure earlier, but I still wanted to answer the previous post. From my understanding, they were only looking at documents and information that was submitted as of 5pm last Thursday. I emailed the contact person on the job posting page. I got an email back from them saying that all of my recommendations had been received and were added to my completed file. I did not call anyone directly, and do not know their phone number- sorry! I'm sure that you can try and email the recruiting office with your updated EKG competency if you wanted. I know we are not supposed to hear anything for a while, but I can't help checking this page often just incase. I seriously hope we all get interviews and there would be jobs for us!
  11. Killar- I'm sorry to confuse you. I meant all of my recommendation letters. A few of my instructors decided to submit their own copy rather than give it to me to upload with my application. It does not show on the online status that I have any recommendtions received, but they confirmed to me that they have the hard copies in my file that will be reviewed. Anyone with any updates? Still no word on how many spots/ how many applied?
  12. Nope, but they aren't conducting interviews until the end of July/beginning of August.. So I'm trying just to pray about it, and not let the worry of my uncertain future eat at me. I did contact them on Thursday to make sure they had all of my references and that my application was complete, before the deadline. I had seen that last year half of everyone that applied did not have a completed file, and was nervous that one of my instructors had not submitted my reference. Other than that, I have not heard anything about how many applied/ how many slots are open.
  13. What unit(s) did everyone apply for? And any word on how many applied/ how many will they are looking for?
  14. Mine hasn't. It still says that it is open and application in review. What about yours??
