  1. I wonder if the 3/14 is for CNEP and 3/29 for on campus studies.
  2. GPA was 3.5 something, I don't remember. 5 years ICU. 6 months birth doula. I shadowed a CNM.
  3. I can not find the "Frontier Nursing University Class 148" group on FB!
  4. I got accepted WOOHOO!
  5. Congratulations RN Student 2014
  6. I'm living in Corpus Christi, TX.
  7. Email are out. I met the requirements and was put on waitlist. Omg, one step closer!!!!!!
  8. I keep checking my email as well, nothing yet!!!
  9. Mamita123 I'll let you know. So excited! IzzyRN6 Best of luck to you too. [emoji4]
  10. Awesome! I can't wait to get started! I am feeling very positive. Best of Luck to you too!!!
  11. I sent off my application yesterday and paid the fee. Now it is waiting time! Yikes, it makes one soo nervous. Who else is waiting for acceptance to class 148 for the CNM program?
  12. Ok, let me see if I can contact someone at WIC and LLL in our town. Thank you for the information's!
  13. I am an ICU nurse, but with a passion in childbirth. I am a birth doula, and will be shadowing two CNMs within the next month, to make sure becoming a CNM is what I really want to do. One in a birth center and the other in the office (won't allow to go to any hospital births). But I would love to get my IBCLC along the way. Would I be able to offer breastfeeding help on my website for other moms (not just my doula clients) to apply that to my hours needed? I say that because I do not work in L&D or PP (those nurses usually fulfill those hours within a year). Thanks in advance!
  14. Thank You guys! Went ahead and talked to her, and she appreciated it a lot. She will let me know though if there is any paper to be filled out. Yes, I still have my position in ICU. PRN, and will probably sign up for shift starting next week sometime.
  15. I have been orientating for seven weeks in L&D now. I have come to realize that it is not what I want to do and would like to go back to ICU and let those that really want to do L&D, have a chance. I am still in my orientation! Do I still have to do a two weeks notice? Do I have to do everything in person? Go to HR? Manager? I just want to get out without them asking me soo many questions. Thx!
  16. Thank you guys for all of your input and thanks for the advice on having baby breastfeed immediately to have the uterus contract, makes a lot of sense.
  17. Orientee question! I understand that pressing on Mums tummy is to make sure no blood clots are being left behind. Why do some RNs press SO hard that sometimes Mum is crying?
  18. CrazyMommy replied to kellie0924's topic in Ob/Gyn
Congrats for the new position. I have been wanting to work in L&D for the longest time myself, and finally after 2 years of applying here and there I finally got a position in L&D too, and even at the hospital I wanted too. WOOHOO for us. Good bye ICU, welcome L&D.
  19. Jeanster, I had always wanted to work in L&D, even before starting nursing school. Then when I had my interviews for L&D it just didn't work, they didn't want me. I started in ICU and learned SO much, I am kinda glad I did. You could start Med/Surg and later cross-train in L&D!?
  20. I graduated in Dec 2010 and went straight to ICU, even though I have been wanting to work in L&D. It is very hard to get into L&D and I am so excited to say that I was offered a position in L&D yesterday and at the hospital I really like. Starting orientation in Dec!!!
  21. I agree with everyone here, I am the kind of person that also advocates for conscious birthing. Many women don't receive informed choices. We need more, out of hospital, birth-class'. Next week, I will be cross-training in L&D, and I know there will be times that I will hate having chosen L&D. But I want to be their voice for many reasons mentioned here. Childbirth is a rite of passage! Bonding with the mother is so important, but insteat in todays high-tech driven world our babies bond with machines.
  22. @ Apgar10, you definately explained it very well and I now understand the CPM route a bit more. That is the route I would like to go.
  23. took my nclex-rn yesterday at 1300, had the whole 265 question. yesterday check showed, candidate currently has test results that are on hold ... and today in the morning it showed the good pop up, i passed. omgosh, its over!
  24. i now got the good pop up, is this for real? i can't believe it, if its true i passed with 265. WOOHOO! is it 100% certain?
