Help deciding between new grad jobs!
I would recommend as a new grad to do med/surg first. Being a new grad alone is stressful. Without my year of med/surg experience I would be lost in my current job. Where do you live I need move there with those salaries! I work on pcu so I'm not critical care after 3 years here I still don't feel comfortable getting pulled to icu... Best of luck!!

Which pathway to take???
If you are going to have to go back for a masters program again there is no point in doing an entry level masters program you will just pay more for the credits.

Vented tubing for lipids?
You will do not need a filter for lipids they are to be hung with regular tubing attached below the filter hanging them above the filter will ruin both the filter and the lipids. I would check your protocol but we always hand tpn with a filter and the lipids below the filter on the tpn line

Need advice please
Do what makes you happy! You will be more marketable if you have a BSN. I am on the hunt for a BSN program, I do not feel as though I am throwing away money even though I already have a BS in biology. It took me 9 months after getting my Associate Degree & passing my RN boards to get a job. In interviews they all asked me what my plans are and I basically felt like i wasnt good enough for one hospital because I didnt have my BSN. I truely believe if I had my BSN it would not have taken me so long to find a job. I do have one question. Are you currently working in LTC? Why aren't you making more money if so? They didnt give you a raise for obtaining your RN?

CNA to RN: Used & Abused?
In NJ you cannot work as a CNA if you have your nursing license. It is illegal; they say it is a liability issue. There are CNAs at my hospital who have had to give up their jobs because they have passed the boards. Some don’t even have nursing jobs yet. A girl I work with has not taken her boards yet because she cannot find a job as a RN. I would look into it. When I graduated I took a position that use to be a graduate nurse position they were paying us as graduate nurses. When the other RNs found out that we had our license and were not being paid as RNs they flipped out. We are a union hospital and the union rep helped us get paid at an RN rate. You’re a RN you should be paid as an RN!!!! Fight for what is right!
