  1. How did you pay your bills while in school? Did you have a good support system?
  2. Oh, wow. I didnt know that. Thank you so much for the information. That would be a good alternative to NO income at all, even though it would have to be paid back. I was talking with an NP the other day. Does anyone know the base salary of a fresh RN?
  3. My dilemma is living expenses. I dont know if you saw my other thread, but we have 3 children, 1 mortgage, 2 car payments....I am not sure we can make that on his salary-for 2 years. Right now, I feel bad because I do not have faith that what will happen will happen....but like most people, you want some type of preliminary plan for what you are going to do as far as education and career.
  4. So what did you decide? About living expenses? :-) I can not PM yet, but am researching through all the information you and everyone have posted.
  5. I just stumbled across this thread, and you all have given some great information! I am not able to PM yet, but I am still doing research regarding the best path for me. I will be getting my B.S. in Health Admin, but my background is in IT. I am seriously thinking of a second degree in Nursing, but trying to figure out the best plan for me. My dilemma is that we have 3 children (2 under the age of 5) and am wondering how we would be able to do it financially. We do not have any family around to help. :-(
  6. Hopefully December 2012.
  7. Are they as recognized as a traditional school since my background is not in Nursing? Employer-wise?
  8. It seems there are not BS in anything -MSN programs in this area. :-(
  9. Oh wow...This thread is so old, but I ran across it during a google search. @LadyL963 and ICU11, can you PM me?
  10. You are right. I have been interchanging the two.
  11. thank you! where have you seen some of those programs? i saw something similar at duke, but the wording had me confused. it seemed that you had to have a background in nursing? thanks
  12. I am currently in this program, and as another poster said, make sure the school is accredited. I was kind of forced into this degree, since I had 10+years in IT, and wanted to get into the Health field. After beginning, I found that my school was not accredited. I also found when searching through jobs, there were not many that did not want you to have some patient experience, be it an RN, LPN, or otherwise. Check through local job listings to see if it's right for you.
  13. Alamance Community College offers the night option. Thanks so much!
