  1. Hi everyone, I would like your input on changing nursing specialities. I will be a new grad and I am afraid I will not get into the specialty I want right away. So.. my question is.. how hard is it to change specialities when you decide the time is right ? All the experienced RN positions I come across state a certain amount of experience in THAT specialty is required. For example, how can an adult med/surg nurse with 1-2 yrs experience move to ICU/ ER/Peds without having experience in those specialty areas? Thanks!
  2. Hi, which did you end up choosing? :)

  4. No word from Seton over here either. I applied to several jobs and also attended the open house.
  5. I haven't gotten a call yet and all my apps are "under review."
  6. Has anyone applied to the S&W in Round Rock? I did, and then I missed phone call from them. I have been trying to call back for the past 2 days and have left messages. No response :/
  7. Yes, a BSN program. My target school is UT Austin and they require 3 letters of rec. I'm just not too sure how to approach the professors!
  8. I was wondering if you guys have some tips on how to get letters of rec for nursing school from professors?
  9. Aaah, I'm trying to improve my GPA. It's a 3.4 right now and I'm planning to apply this fall to get in for spring 2013. I looked into the shine program... thanks! Did you get your other letters of rec. from other sci. professors?
  10. Thanks!! Do you mind if I ask you more questions? Like what my GPA range should be to get into upper division and how did you survive pharmacology (was it really hard?).
  11. how much do you think is enough? I am just now getting into a hospital so I'll have about 7 months of experience volunteering there by the time I apply for upper division . Are you at UT?
  12. I need work/volunteer experience to get into the BSN program at UT, but I'm not sure where to look. Obviously, I am looking to volunteer at a hospital but they make you spend the first 4 months working general areas such as the front desk. Im afraid I won't get the experience I need in time. Where else can I look?
  13. aaah I guess that is what will have to be done. Feels like a waste of time though, but I guess it'll be worth it in the end!
  14. I'm looking to get into a nursing school for a BSN and I want to have many options so I can be sure that I'll get into some school. But it seems like every place has different prereq.'s!! It's kind of crazy... anyone have any experience with this?
  15. yes, it's 2 years for upper division bsn
