  1. I have many tattoos including a full sleeve and I was in the dental field for 8 years before going back to school for nursing. Yes, you will have to cover them. So, I always have to wear a lab coat or compression sleeves. And the patients that did see my tattoo due to me pulling my sleeve up too high, loved it.
  2. Hey guys. So I'm freaking out about my application submission. I have transcripts from two other schools which were evaluated when I first started at FSCJ. I was told which pre-req's I needed for Nursing. So, when I submitted my application for Nursing last week, I didn't have my transcripts evaluated again. I didn't see the reason for it. Does that matter?
  3. I JUST turned in my application last week for the Spring 2016 program and am already freaking out. LOL The receptionist said we'd receive something in the mail within 8 weeks! Ugh.... the wait!!
  4. Hello future nurses- I'm taking my Hesi A2 entrance test tomorrow! Yikes!! I am soo nervous! I've been using the Amission Assesssment Exam review by Elsevier BUT, could someone tell me exactly what I should focus more on? Chemistry? What should I focus on? I'm super nervous about this since I haven't taken chemistry in a few years and to me, it's like learning a new language. Math? I'm fine with the basic's but, the conversions are killing me. Any advice on how to remember them? Anatomy? What exactly should I be memorizing? The bones? The systems? Ahhh. lol
  5. Thank you for posting this. I'm taking the test tomorrow and am freaking out, especially for the math part. The part that i'm nervous about are the conversions. Any advice for that? Also, with the Anatomy.. were there questions about bone anatomy or what was it pretty basic anatomy?
  6. I need help with my Nursing application. I've tried several time's to reach out to the nursing director but she gives me such vague answer's or she'll just 'copy and paste'. Question 1: I have experience in the dental field. Does anyone know FOR A FACT that it counts as experience? There is a section on the application that says 'assistant' so I was going to put my points in that slot. Question 2: Health related work experience documentation must be on employer letterhead. What does that mean???? What letterhead are they referring to? Question 3: When adding my pointed up, for PREREQUISITES, there are 2 columns [credit] and [weighed value which is 1.5 or 0.5]. Which column do I use to multiply my grade points? THank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!
  7. I'm applying for the Spring semester at FSCJ. Does the AS program take 1 year or 2? I wasn't sure if 'terms' meant semester or something else when referring to the Nursing program. ALSO... I have dental experience but that's not an option on the application under 'health related work experience'. Does it count? I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but anytime I go to the office to ask questions about financial aid or my application, the staff there always give such vague answers as if they have no clue.
  8. Could I also get emailed the new packet? [email protected]
  9. I'm currently finishing up the application process for Nursing. I decided to go back to school after being in the dental/surgical field for 8 years. I understand that the application process alone is very stressful and meticulous but, aren't you glad? Think about it... you don't want just anyone becoming a Nurse. I know I don't. If myself or a loved one is in the hospital I better have a nurse that know's what he/she is doing. The process should be demanding.
  10. Maybe you can help me out... I wanted to apply for the Spring 2016 Nursing Program but, the deadline is August 1st and I will not be finished with my class until July 26th(?). Do you know how long it takes for the application to process? I would have a 4-5 day window before the deadline.
  11. I will be attending Truman college next semester for the nursing program. I still have to complete some of my prereq's( CHEM, BIO, MATH). The application deadline for the 2012 fall program is February but I'll still be taking my prereq's. I talked to an adviser and she told me that I can still apply while still doing my prereq's but the application says that ALL PREREQUISITES MUST BE COMPLETED. She also mentioned that I'd still have to complete all of my co-requisites(BIO,MICRO, ETC) before starting the Nursing program. Could someone please tell me what I can/cannot do, and what steps to take. I feel like the advisers don't know what they are talking about.
  12. I currently work as a dental/surgical assistant. I am not an RN but I work with patients who undergo anesthesia. I assist with the surgery, set up the IV's, care for the patients during and afterwards and go over post-op directions. I feel like with your schooling and knowledge, you'd be taking a step down. I think working at plastic surgery office will be more interesting, rewarding and open more doors for advancement and/or additional training. good luck!
  13. I'm attending Truman college next semester(Spring) for Nursing but I have to complete my prereq's first( I only have to take BIO, CHEM, MATH). But the application deadline for the 2012 Nursing program is February 2012. I talked to an adviser and she told me that I could still apply to the 2012 fall program but the application says ALL PREREQ'S MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE SIGNING UP. Could someone give me advice about what steps to take and if I am able to try to get into the 2012 fall program. I feel like the advisers at Truman don't know what their talking about.
  14. I met up with an advisor today and she wasn't very clear on the steps I needed to take to get into the Nursing program. I was told that I have to do the required prerequites(MATH118, ENG101, CHEM121, BIO121) Then, once I apply and get accepted into the nursing program that I would have to complete corequisites which is BIO, CHEM, MICRO and PHARM. Does this sound about right? If so, can't I just take these classes now? Thank you
