I work as a PSW right now for home care while going through nursing school. I live east of Toronto, and once I finished my 1st year of BScN program, i applied for it as a nursing student and got the job. It's very helpful in terms of how you interact with people in hospitals during clinicals. It has also helped me in recognizing various different things in patients that I have learned through my job. I personally love it. My working hours are very flexible. During the school year (Sept-Apr), i work on weekends and during the 4 months of summer break, I work as much as I can depending on how many hours I can get. So in short, yes it will be very helpful to work as a PSW. I can't really tell you how helpful it will be in the long run to apply for RN jobs. Hope this helps!

Hello everyone, I have been searching for a book/website where there are multiple choice practice questions for pathophysiology topics, but I can't find any. So far I have only found Quizlet, but I was wondering if you guys know about any websites or books that has practice questions, please let me know. I would appreciate it. Also, please give any tips for passing pathophysiology. I failed once, and I'm terrified to do it again next semester. Please help! Thank you.

Hello Everyone, I am currently doing my BScN program in Ontario, Canada. Here in long term care facilities, if I want to work as a PSW (Personal Support Worker), most of the places ask for PSW certificate. This makes it very hard to get a job. Right now I am working as a PSW for home health, but I am not getting enough hours so I am looking for another job in nursing homes, but as I mentioned, they require PSW certificate. My question is, I am going into my 3rd year of BScN program. In my 1st year of the program, both semesters I had my clinical placements at a nursing home. 2nd year I had clinical placements at 2 different hospitals on the med-surg floor. I was wondering if I can obtain a PSW certificate without attending another college/program just based on the courses and clinical placement experience I have. Plus I have been working as a PSW for 3 months now. Please let me know. Links/names of the institute, anything will help! Thank you so much. Ps. please don't tell me that I don't need to get psw certificate as I already have a job as one. I just want a stable job where I'm getting enough hours. My current job is barely giving me hours. Thank you.

Soo, i just had my final exams and I failed the nursing course which is only offered once a year. that means I have to do an extra year in the nursing school. I feel soo devastated and mad at myself. To do 3 more years seem like a LONGGG runn for meee ..i wanted to graduate asap, but noww it's not possible. I feel like a failureee..just don't know how to feel about all this. I told my parents and they're very understanding but still I know that they are disappointed. and more than them..i'm disappointed in myself. I am in BScN program and because of this I feel like switching to RPN program in the same school since it's only 2 yr program. But then I want to get settled in USA after I graduate (i'm currenly in canada) so I'm second guessing myself considering the fact that graduating from BScN program will be easier to get me a job in states compared to RPN. Do you guys think that I should stick with BScN program and finish the program in 3 years or should I switch to RPN? Right now I can't think of what to do so had to come here to get some advice. Any encouragement or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!
