  1. Hello, It has been a while since I have posted but I am currently on disability because I have Epilepsy and I struggled with it for a majority of my life but I am controlled and did graduated with my RN,BSN. Although I have not worked as a nurse yet because I wanted to finish school before coming off disability, in the past school and work at the same time was too difficult with my condition to juggle. But now that I am 36, and I am ready to work I am considering having a child, which could be a high risk pregnancy for me, my question is that if I do put off starting my career as a RN will it be very difficult to get a job once I am ready? What is the best option in someone else's opinion on how to manage both? I do want to pursue my career in nursing especially since I have been in school for 4 years for this, but I also would like to have children and I am getting older. Since I will be a high risk pregnancy I don't know if it would be wise to come off the disability when I might have to go back on it, this is my reason for my hesitation on getting a job asap. Thank you in advance and any input would be greatly appreciated
  2. Hi thanks for your advice, I did look at the candidate performance report, I was near the passing standard in every category, so that made me feel like I have to study every area really well in order to pass. thanks again
  3. Hi Everyone, I am trying to prepare for the NCLEX for the second time, I am just looking for some advice on the best ways to prepare. I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor degree program, but I am not allowed to return next semester unless I pass the NCLEX before the semester starts, so I am reaching out for the best resources to use to prepare for NCLEX. I used Ready To Pass and NCSBN the first time I took it. I am considering Hurst or Kaplan or maybe the Saunders/HESI access code for virtual learning. Please any suggestions would be extremely appreciated Thank you so much
  4. Hi Everyone, I am in my first semester of my bachelor degree program, I already have my RN although I did not pass the NCLEX yet, hopefully 2nd time will be a charm. My question is about designing a teaching plan, my professor didn't really explain it and I am having a difficult time starting it because I have always done care plans, can anyone explain exactly what I am supposed to include in a teaching plan and how to set it up I feel confused. I know she wants 3 nursing dx but we are to work up the knowledge deficit she also wants SMART and Bloom's taxonomy included I guess I am having a hard time understanding the format in which I am to write everything do you write it up as a big paragraph? Thank you in advance any information would be helpful
  5. Thank you so much stay calm your words were very helpful to me and I appreciate the advice. I think it is great that you are involved in how epilepsy effects your sons life I sometimes wish my parents were that way. I have felt very alone in this journey with epilepsy, I am 32 and returning to school after a horrible divorce. I have been through a lot and I guess my insecurities and timidness is from my family always treating me like I don't really matter. I used to have complex partial seizures so I totally understand, I think I have had every seizure ever known, lol its been a struggle. I just want to Thank you your words mean a lot!
  6. Thank you everyone so much I did go back to school and am trying to hold my head up high, I just feel like my teacher is looking down on me because she knows of what I have. I don't know it could be in my head but I just feel like she expects failure from me because she knows I have this disability. I have been doing very well, taking my meds and getting proper sleep. My problem I guess is that I can be very shy and timid I guess b/c of everything I have gone through I am not sure why I am this way but I guess it can make me look like I don't know anything even if I do. I guess what I am trying to ask is how does someone become more assertive and confident when they are just learning something? I thought confidence would come with time but my teacher expects me to have confidence right away. How can I have confidence in something I am doing only once a week at clinical? That is where my difficulty is, otherwise my grades are good. Thank you so much
  7. Hello, I have had Epilepsy all my life, since I was 8 yrs old, and my seizures are actually very controlled, after having brain surgery. I am currently in Nursing School, this is something I have always wanted to do. I recently had a bad seizure in school while doing clinical, I was so embarrassed I had skipped my meds a couple days, I know stupid. I feel so embarrassed going back to class, I feel like everyone is going to think differently about me and think I am crazy to try to be a nurse. People have a stigma about epilepsy, and it effects all of us that have it. I wonder if anyone has any advice or similar experiences. Thank you so much!
  8. Hello Everyone, It was so nice to read everyones messages, I also have Epilepsy I have felt so alone and thought my choice to pursue nursing was beyond me because of my condition. It felt so empowering to read how many of you are in the same position. I have been a phlebotomist for 9 yrs, I lost my job b/c of the Epilepsy, had to leave my doctor pulled my license, then I had brain surgery. I am on disability but I am in school now I took almost all the pre-req's for nursing, my grades aren't great though, I dont know if they are good enough to get into nursing school, B+ in A&P 1, taking A&P 2 now. I have it for 22 yrs now seems the struggle is just about over now. I just wanted to say how nice it is to know Im not alone. I do find it very hard to remember things since my surgery, but just like always I push through, I will never let Epilepsy control me, although it has tried, lol
