  1. Hello, Here are the things that help me. Make sure you are delegating tasks that your aides can help you with. In the beginning you might want to do everything yourself, but you just can't. Also, make sure you multitask a lot. Making lists of tasks needed to be done helps with the multitasking so that you aren't constantly running in and out of rooms. Eventually it'll click. Give yourself a year and set goals for yourself. While you have a preceptor, use the opportunity to figure out what works for you. If you aren't making calls to docs, placing orders and checking orders, you are never going to get the big picture. Don't be afraid to tell your preceptor how you feel. Maybe she can take on the little tasks so that you can spend more time with charting throughout the day and spend more time managing your patients care.
  2. Have you been to any job fairs? That is what my edge was and I had ZERO medical experience. Go in a nice suit and have resumes AND cover letters for all hospitals you know will be there.
  3. Thanks for your reply. That is reassuring to hear. I'm very excited for my new job and just wanted to be mentally prepared.
  4. Hi, I'm trying to prepare myself for the first day on a med/tele floor. I'm going to work a weekend shift before I take the ACLS course and before I have my official orientation. Will it be much like clinicals in school where I shadow and assist my preceptor. Or will I be assigned my own patients with my preceptor present to help me with questions I may have? Graysunday
  5. I passed! Yippee!!
  6. Hello, I just graduated from the night/weekend program in December and wanted to tell you all GOOD LUCK! I'm so glad they are continuing this program. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask.
  7. My test was similar to yours. I would get 3-4 SATA questions in a row. I had no medication question, 3 EKG and mostly pharm and priority questions at the end.
  8. Have you looked into ATI tutor? You work one on one with a nurse. It's what I used and think it helped a lot. Virtual-ATI NCLEX Review | Online NCLEX Review | ATI
  9. I took mine today and didn't think it was too bad. I got like 3-4 SATA in a row at times and found that reassuring. Finished with 75 questions in about an hour and have gotten the good pop up. Anyone else use ATI tutor to study? It was a pain in the butt, hard and time consuming, but I feel it prepared me well. It was included in my school's tuition. Natalie
  10. I took it with Scott Quinton at Maple Woods Campus. His class was very, very hard.
  11. i believe that the rules changed recently about the eligibility to take the teas test. i'm in the freshman class now and we were eligible to take the teas if we ranked high enough in admissions. now, i believe they want you to already have the teas taken before you've been accepted. there are no other entrance tests that i know of. perhaps, they forgot to take out the "we will rank applicants following completion of admission requirments 1-6. this will be used to determine your eligibility to take the entrance exam and for admission to the program." good luck!
  12. I'm kind of curious to how this all works out. I got the idea that if you are accepted to take the TEAS test and do well, then you are in the program. Is this correct? Or is there a chance that some may be put on a waiting list.
  13. I got my letter today!!! Time to jump through some hoops. Less than a week to prepare for the TEAS.
