  1. So I have never heard anything back from ODU. I am extremely disappointed in not just the waiting list but the lack of communication from the department. Even if they admit me now, I will not be going there. I have applied to Walden for their AG-ACNP program and am set to start July 11th. The program seems to be set up nicely and I have heard great things from NPs who have competed the program.
  2. I've heard that a lot but I believe that unless you sit in a lecture a few times a week that most learning depends on the student. I've done a lot of online schooling and find that it is just a part of it. My only worry is the creditability when it comes time to find a job. Online programs are so new and not as widely accepted. But I dont have many programs to choose from that would allow me to work.
  3. I am thinking of applying to the ag-acnp program for the July start. They have been very impressive to speak with and I have had several people recommend it. Is there anyone else out there who may be starting then?
  4. To those who did the on campus setting, how many days were you required to be there. I am about 1.5 hours from both the Virginia Beach and Richmond campus's. I am debating online study.
  5. I guess I'm still on the wait list. Nothing has changed. Have y'all looked at any online schools? My employer offers discounts to Walden and Drexel but I'm weary of how it would look on a resume compared to a brick and mortar. I've heard great things about Walden from co-workers on their BSN and MSN. But nothing about the MSN-NP. There are other local schools that offer NP programs but none that allow much time for even a 3-12's job.
  6. After not hearing anything, I emailed. Wait listed. I won't know for another 2 weeks.
  7. I'm so sorry guys! I still have nothing posted. Was this in mydominion? I do think experience means a lot with these programs. I think my only hope is that I am an alumni.
  8. I tried calling the SON and they transferred me to the graduate department. I was sent to a voice mail of someone that I had tried to speak with before about the program that really didn't answer my questions.
  9. I'm going to call today. I'm frustrated with this process. It's very gray and it doesn't seem like anyone know the answers. I emailed one of the program coordinators and she forwarded me to the head of the program. Still no answers yet.
  10. Mine doesn't say that. This is so aggravating. You would think they would send everyone's status at the same time!
  11. Has anyone heard anything yet? I think I might call the SON.
  12. That's where I've been checking. Hopefully it will be this week! Congrats on your admission!
  13. Hi Shelia, Where did you check your status? Leoonline or mydominion? I also completed odu's RN-BSN in December. I sure hope we will all be joining you but we have yet to receive acceptance. Did you receive an email too?
  14. It's no big deal! Hopefully it will be next week. Maybe whoever you talked to didn't realize the date. Either way, I say we should all get accepted!!
  15. It's not looking good for this week!
  16. Maybe today will bring good news for us!
  17. So I wonder if it will be early next week? I'm going to run my phone battery dead refreshing that page next week. My luck it will be Friday afternoon. I'm so anxious to know!!!
  18. Next week is so much better than waiting until May! The waiting is horrible. I would imagine they would update the application site. I can access leoonline since I'm an alumni and can see my status there. I would think they would send out a paper acceptance letter too. Good luck!
  19. Work is one of the things I am most nervous about. I want to keep my income as long as I can. But ODU drew me in since it is only 4 semesters. I'm going to try to work for as long as possible. I hope being an alumni will help but I don't feel that I have a competitive application. I didn't take the GRE since I met the GPA requirement. This was the only program I was applying for. I did. She said their application pool ranged about the same as you listed above for acceptance. So I don't know if she meant acceptance or applicant pool. So we won't hear anything until May? That's so long. If you aren't going to admit me, at least break my heart early!!
  20. I am submitting my application today. The essay has been so hard to write. I just can't get 500 words without feeling like I am repeating myself. I have to say I was pretty hesitant in applying with the full time curriculum. When I talked to the admissions advisor she made it seem very possible to still work for a majority of the program. I work full time M-F with a call schedule. My plan is to cut to part time then labor pool the further I get. May is too far away! I completed my BSN this past December at ODU with a 3.59 GPA. I didn't take the GRE. I have 6 months of M/S and 1 1/2 years of Pre-Op/PACU. There aren't many threads for ODU here. Maybe we can find some others who have applied too. I look forward to hearing from you.
  21. I will be applying to ODU's FNP for this coming Fall. I spoke with the admissions advisor and Fall 16' applicants will be considered for the traditional MSN program since they do not have the approval for the BSN-DNP yet. As far as work experience, they only require one year of RN experience. She said their applicant pool ranges and is typically small. I will have two years of experience by the time the application is due.
  22. To all of you who have started this program, How do you like it so far? What do the on-campus components consist of? I've gone back and forth whether I want to apply here or not.
  23. I've tossed ODU back and forth since they are transitioning to the DNP and that they are full time. But they are close to home and have the online/clinical option I'm looking for. Please let me know how the program is. Are you working while attending?
  24. I'm interested in knowing this too. I'm currently in the online RN-BSN program at ODU. I'd like to apply to their FNP but they only accept full time. I've wanted to talk to current or previous students about how the program went full time. There isn't a lot of information about it.
  25. Hi guys, I'm interested in applying to GWU's spring 2016 FNP program. I have been hesitant in applying because I don't feel like my application really stands out. I have about a year and a half of experience (Med/Surg and Pre-op/PACU) and am finishing my BSN in December. My ADN grades are mediocre and hold a 3.6 GPA so far with two more classes to complete my BSN. What does GWU really look at in an applicant? Being a NP has been my ultimate goal. Thanks!
