March 2012 CHLA RN Residency Program
Hey peds_nurse9, there's apartments near the hospital (it's the los feliz area)- that's a pretty good area. I'm planning on commuting but I have been researching (just in case the traffic gets to be a bit much) and on LA Times website you can search different neighborhoods in LA and get information about them: Mapping L.A. - Los Angeles Times. Good Luck! Also, for anyone that completed the new hire paperwork, I have a question...the papers we received about setting up direct deposit, completing new hire curriculum, and setting up our benefits- on each of those websites, you need an employee id to do anything (login, etc). Should I have received one after completing the paperwork, or am I getting ahead of myself? I still have to go back and return the orientation quiz, so will I receive one then? Thanks!!!

White Memorial RN Residency Program March 2012
Hey Cassie, My interview (s) went pretty well...I was kinda nervous during my L&D one but thankfully I calmed down for NICU (which is my 1st choice). I think for NICU she told me she was interviewing 2 or 3 more people and would hire 2! KM- the manger interviews were slightly less formal than the panel interview. They asked me standard questions (why White Memorial, why this unit, strengths/weaknesses, etc). but the overall vibe was more personal. I was able to take a tour of the unit, interviewed with the manager and educator. The exam was pretty easy- very straight forward. It was basically conversions, I studied for it though because it's been months since I've taken a test or anything of the sort. If you Google "nursing math" or "medication math" you will find some good websites that will help you review. Overall- be concise and calm, and you'll do great!!! Good Luck!

White Memorial RN Residency Program March 2012
I got a call today regarding a 2nd interview, hooray!!! I'm really excited because my 1st interview was sooooooo short (couldn't have been more than 15 minutes!) and I felt like they all could have cared less with what I was saying- but I guess not =] If getting a 2nd interview is an indication that you'll get hired, I appreciate that. It's so frustrating when other hospitals lead you on with 2nd/3rd interviews and don't hire you. If you haven't received a call hold tight-if I remember correctly on my panel interview they told me it'd be 3-4 weeks when they called back; and it's been 3 weeks, so hopefully everyone else hears something this week or next week. Good luck!

Loma Linda RN residency 2012
I got the email saying my application and resume had been forwarded to the manager, so now I'm waiting for either a good call or a bad email =\ But, Loma Linda is a little slow with their process, I have a friend who works there. When she applied it was late December 2009, interviewed in January, and received a call mid/late Feb, and the program began at the beginning of March! So just be patient, it's only November, and this program begins in February =]

CHOC February 2012
I applied to Med/Surg also and still no call or email or status change =\ I applied right when the applications opened too. I applied to the PICU during the last cohort, and received a call for an interview within 2-3 weeks after submitting my application. I'm hoping the way they call for interviews is based upon the unit! Since the residency doesn't start until February, I'm not counting myself until December at least...

White Memorial RN Residency Program March 2012
I had an interview on Monday, and when I asked them when I could expect hearing back, they said 3-4 weeks...that's around Thanksgiving week and 1st week of December (which is a looooong time in unemployed new grad world lol)

White Memorial RN Residency Program March 2012
I'm sure it'll be okay if you just send a thank you to the person from HR to forward to the rest of the panel, it's the thought that counts! I actually have a panel interview tomorrow afternoon, my first one in a while so I'm kinda nervous ! Any pointers? Also, since it's so far in advance r/t the start date of the residency, I wonder if the panel interview is the 1st step in their interview process?

Sharp new grad residency winter 2011-2012
I applied to M/S at Grossmont and Memorial, and haven't received an email or anything...Maybe since those programs start in Feb/March that maybe we'll hear back in November, maybe even December about interviews (wishful thinking, probably)
