  1. I'm in Barry's Bay Ontario by the way. IF any one lives here and is going to take the CRNE, maybe we should hook up and meet up or something. I don't really like study groups though, but don't mind sharing questions!
  2. Oh heres a more detailed version of what happened. http://www.tcu.gov.on.ca/pepg/audiences/pcc/letters/Toronto%20School%20of%20Health%20Inc%20_Restraining%20Order_January%2028%202009.pdf Sorry I didn't realize this was for RPN exam. I failed RN exam once already.
  3. Hey theres a few courses you could take. I've been researching this a lot, cause I failed once already and really need to take one. 1. www.primededucation.ca/ - you could take this. They do it at my university, but its a weekend course only, so you may need something more intensive. 2. https://www.nurses2canada.net/ - they offer questions online, unlimited. Its pretty cheap too 3. www.torontoschoolofnursing.com - they do sessions at my university too and I've heard lots of good things about them too. A bunch of girls from my clinical group took this and they all passed. 4. www.torontoschoolofhealth.com - they offer a prep guide. My friend took it and said it was okay. The problem with them is they have been charged a couple of time for operating illegal programs. There is a few posts on here about it, so do a search. I got this from one of the other forums, I think a few people were scammed there or something, so probably best to stay away. Anyways good luck http://www.tcu.gov.on.ca/pepg/audiences/pcc/letters/Toronto%20School%20of%20Health%20Inc%20%20-%20Particulars%20of%20Notice%20of%20Contravention%20and%20Review%20Decision.pdf
  4. I agree, you need your BScN to do a masters in nursing. That said, the University of Toronto has a 2 year accelerated BScN for those with a degree. You may want to look into that. http://bloomberg.nursing.utoronto.ca/prospectives/BScN/undergrad.htm
  5. I totally agree. It totally depends on what school you intend on attending. If it's grade point average, try taking some courses that you are good at, whether it be pscyhology, chemistry or biology. That way achieving high grade point average will be easier and your chances of entering the school of your choice will be all that more doable. There's no point taking two years of psychology and scoring a horrible GPA. Take that into consideration.
  6. Also note that the RN's in Quebec get paid less from what I understand than the RN's in most other provinces. Their starting wage is much lower. Perhaps consider going to a different province.
  7. I think if you're willing to do the work, and your goal is to complete the RN, then go for it. My sister competed her RN and did her consolidation in L&D last year. Guess what, they hired her on the floor fulltime. IF you persist, I think you can achieve what your hearts desires. That said, be prepared to work work work. :-)
  8. I agree. Once you finish your first year, which includes clinical rotations in LTC, you don't have too much trouble finding a job. I don't think it's necessary at all to do a PSW program at all. That said, some of the school boards do offer free PSW training, such as in Ajax Ontario. Heres the link http://www.con-ed.ca/psw.html If you can get a free certificate program like that for a psw, and have the time to do it, yoou could always enroll and complete it before your nursing. If your thinking about spending the big bucks for a psw program, which is often the case for a lot of these private colleges and institutions, I would just save your money and wait until you finish your first year of school. Good luck
  9. I've actually decided to take a preparation course at the Toronto School of Nursing. They do a lot of the prep courses at my University since I've been there, and all my friends have said nothing but good things about them and they've all passed. That said, I've already failed once so I think I need the extra help and guidance. Since you're writing your first time, you may want to just hit the books really hard and take your chances. If your interested in checking them out they're at www.torontoschoolofnursing.com. You can also take a shorter prep course thats offered at http://www.primededucation.ca/. They too have taught a few sessions at my university. Its a weekend course, and I've heard lots of good things about them too, although I don't think they're comprehensive enough for me as they are only 2 days i think. We could also post some questions on here for discussion, which will definitely get our CRNE studying going!
  10. Wow congrats on the job interviews. I think Cambrose is a good place to raise a family, although it depends on how big of a place you're used to living. Good luck on deciding!
