Can anybody please give me some tips about the interview process at Washington Hospital Center? What did you wear? What was the process? What kind of questions? How long after the interview did you hear back? PLEASE HELP ME!!! This is all happening so fast! Lol

thank you :) All I did was Kaplan. I took the Kaplan course and did all the question trainers and 90% of the Q bank. I didnt really end up using the decision tree on the test BUT it is helpful when you can actually apply it to a question. I tried to do least 100-150 questions per day (3 wks of studying after course was over). It is very important to read your rationales so you can understand why you got a question wrong or right. I would take the test, go thru each question and write the rationale down in my notes if I didnt already know it. As far as medications, I would learn them by class then record myself talking about the medications in my own words. Then I would listen to them periodically and it helped the information stick. The Kaplan course book was helpful because it divided the book into each element thats on the test such as physiological adaption, etc. So once you took a test and saw what you weaknesses were, its easy to just go back to the book and read the chapter you did bad in. I liked the resources Kaplan provides way more than I did the actual class. And that was pretty much all I did because Kaplan is very time consuming and I didnt have time to do anything else lol. Secondly, Kaplan questions are were harder than the questions on the NCLEX so if you do ok on Kaplan, you should do fine on the NCLEX. Hope this was helpful

I passed!!!!!! I called VA Board of Nursing License Lookup number this morning and it stated I have an active license as of today!!!!!

If you take your NCLEX on a Friday and your state doesn't give the 48 hour quick results, when do you find out? A couple of my classmates called the license look up number after 48 hours but they didnt take the test on a weekend. I'm going crazy over here!!!

I said not the ER because I want to have several years of experience before I work in such a fast paced environment. I would be too terrified of making a mistake that would cost my license

And just to clarify, I want to be a Peds nurse but I'm willing to work in ANY unit in the hospital (well except the ER) lol. That just my aspiration, I wasn't saying I HAVE to get hired as as a peds nurse. But thanks to everyone for the advice. I feel a little better. Keep the advice coming please lol

Did you just pop up or got permission first? Just asking because I always see posts up here that say do not just show up because managers are very busy and that would be viewed as being inconsiderate of their time and they wont appreciate it

Hi everyone. I am a senior nursing student graduating in May. This is a pivotal time in my life and I am excited BUT more so scared to say the least. I AM SO SCARED I WILL NEVER GET HIRED Because of how terrible the economy is nowadays, I know it will be hard to land a job for the most qualified new grads. However, what about the people with no externship and no experience working in the hospital (nursing asst, etc)???? Last year I had applied for an externship at a children's hospital but didn't get it (even though I thought I would). After that I applied to at least 50 nursing care partner positions over the summer to no avail. If I can't even find a job as a nursing assistant, how am I going to find an RN job?? Now I am a senior and time is ticking. I'm starting to apply to nursing care partner positions again but I feel like managers wont want to hire me because they know I will be graduating soon and it will be a waste of their time. Am I wrong? On the other side, I am an honors nursing student with regular experience working with children (I want to go into Peds) and I am apart of SNA as well as Sigma Theta Tau. However I feel that the lack of experience will always put me at the bottom of the totem pole. Is there any hope for nursing students like me???? I worked so hard these four years and I'm just terrified that it will all be in vain just because I could not find a job/externship during nursing school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
