need an OZ update! us rn seeking to flee country..
I to am looking into moving to Australia. Have started to get all my paperwork together for converting my license and visa stuff. Would like an update from people who have worked in the USA and now are working in Australia. Do you think nursing in Oz is better, the same, or liked USA nursing better?

Burned out
Going on 30 years and feel things have gotten worse. No longer have time for bedside nursing. Think my charting was more complete when I did it by hand on paper. Feel nurse manager is just throwing us under the bus most times and does not back us. Work night shift and between us we figured out none of us had less than 20 years experience but she came in yelling at us before she even heard our side of the story. The patient she was defending had come in with a heroin overdose who couldn't put 3words together in a sentence. One of the nurses had even stayed over to make sure the patient got the attention she needed. It seems to be all related to cost not patient care anymore. I have 3 kids in college otherwise I would go to work at star bucks.

I'm an Idiot....
I almost did that once but was lucky that my manager called on thurdsay to verify if it had been done. I was lucky as I lived in a state that I was able to pay a company to run over to the nursing lic office and hand file my papers. Cost me a lot but had to work that weekend and if I didn't work that meant some else was going to get their weekend ruined and have to work for me.

Which Job Should I Take?
Before you take the job verify with the job in waiting exactly what your role will be at the spa. Next you need to verify with the state lic that you are in your job scope and covered under your license. Do not just take the spa managers word on what you are and are not covered.

I'm tired of working 4 X 12's
I work 6 12hr nights then off for 8. Like my long stretch off but sometimes the week I work can be a nail biter. Been nursing for almost 30 years and majority has been nights. Figure I have about 15 years more til retirement not sure if will be able to work this schedule when in my 60's but at that age want be able to find another job. The new grads work 6months on nights and want a day job. I remember when I first started out the only way you moved to days was if someone died or retired. I have always like nights and not sure when or if I would take a day position.
