  1. An RN is in college all day everyday when they are work assessing and caring for the patient. Not even college it should be something held to a higher status. Can I just share, I was the nursing student explaining the equipment to the residents. So, if a patient goes into an emergency state at that moment I am the only one who knows what is what and how to you it and why? Just like every other nurse.
  2. My husbands confused, he cant figure out how his staying in the kitchen has anything to do with my nursing career?
  3. Umm, would there be a nursing profession without woman? What a simple minded statement, please tell me that is not entering our world of nursing.
  4. do the bsn, you cant go wrong. i am an adn, cant find a job and if i would have just went bsn from the darn beginning i be almost done now. i am going to enroll in the rn to bsn to try to get a job after i finish that. please dont do the adn.
  5. extention question then where i think they should not transport because of experience. 90 y.o. f transfered in from ltc facility for respiratory distress(ish), she had fluid but was handling it well wanted no procedure done. children unlocatable. hospital md does not recognize the dnr from the ltc facility, so totally begins his stuff. the 90 year old woman thrashing in bed, stating dnr and that she wants nothing done respiratory difficultly. so, 90 y.o. woman trying to attack staff (okay, i would too and i did not participate) because she wanted to be left alone. doc deems mental status altered and woman unable to make own decisions. come on, she didnt want him or anyone doing anything she wanted to die. nothing confused about that. so, doc orders ct guided thoro. and what do you think happens to 90 y.o. frail grammy. yep, lung puncture collapse to chest tube??? then restrained because ****** this is all happening, i felt horrid that this woman was going through this. if i want to die and i am 90, man nobody better take me to the hospital. i thought that was inhumane. whatever way it comes about that we are going to go, that is the way it is supposed to be no matter what happens. there are times when the purpose is clearly positive and should happen, and there are clear times when you need to let nature be.
  6. Thanks, I have been having hard time finding a job but I am hopeful that I will get one eventually. I love learning, and all of what you said I picked up in my clinicals and soooo many nurses have said this same thing to me. It makes me happy that I am on the right track. It seems like I am at least the kind of nurse that will be accepted, and I have been thus far very well. I have heard about that and doing things differently. I do not think any two people do anything the same. I am always looking to be more efficient, so I totally will keep an open mind about how people do things differently. That is a good one. Knowing me I would mesh a bunch of methods to create a more efficient method for me. Thanks for the tip, good one I had not thought of.
  7. Don't interact unless needed for professional reasons. Do not give them anything that will be able to be used to stab you in the back. If someone does approach you smile, kind, don't say anything, repeat what they say if you have to say something unless its something mean about another person in which you say something nice about the person and exit with a quickness. Be hard to approach, and who cares what inconsquential meaningless people do, think, or say. If they talk about you. Think of them saying this instead of the rumor Stacey is a traffic light, or paper plate. Its not true and kinda funny right. Same with stupid rumors and stuff, not true who cares it like saying your a stethescope.
  8. Umm, why have we got past write up 1 is my question to have a write up 2 & 3. Find someone who deals with this and get them involved. One write up is all it should have ever been, no oppurtunity should exist for another write up after that. Oh, no, way.
  9. We all need to start taking this to the house, a felony is a felony and when someone wants to take the "nurse" to court for some dumb thing a non nurse did, its the NURSE that will be in questions. Scary.
  10. umm, i am post 271 or something so ill be impressed if this is even read but isn't this like really bad because if they are saying they are the nurse and a problem occurs with care and the "nurse" and they report the "nurse" it falls on us? that scares me. with all these posts seems it happens a lot. i sure didnt go through hell and back known as nursing school to take a test that produces stress that will take your life to get a license with my name that includes rn after it fo r anyone not a nurse to give me messed up rep.
  11. why was there a 10 key anything? I'm in big trouble if I get that test, for nursing?
  12. Would you mind sharing some, I seem to be shy on it. They should do something like doctors and residencies do. A year is what everyone says it takes to begin to be comfortable in nursing. Why not have nursing residencies to solve this new graduate no experience thing. Plus, the preceptor should be compensated, no more of this nurses working for free stuff.
  13. Sorry, did I upset you to make you give up? I never know what those letters mean, I am so behind in that kind of stuff. Sorry if I upset you in anyway. I figured by the little guys I got it, sorta. I just dont know what op meant. Anyway, I will ponder it and sorry if I upset you.
  14. Thanks everyone for your thoughts about this stuff. I appreciate everyone's input, whether I agree or not. Each person brings a unique aspect to any discussion. I value everyone's insight and opinions.
