  4. You are the one who has to get up and go to the job...not your husband or anyone else. If your desire to return to bedside nursing is so strong then you should go back - bedside nursing - like management - will always be there in some form or another...
  5. Gwinnett Medical Center PRN RN question..

Anyone work PRN at Gwinnett Medical? If so, do you usually get enough hours a schedule or is it a few here and there? I know it's an excellent hospital to work at but it's too far for me to drive 5 days/week but I've seen they are hiring some PRN's a...
  6. Interviewed 2 weeks ago for a position that would work well for me given where I am at physically, emotionally and financially in life right now.....interview went fairly well though it was short. Also strange I knew one of the panel nurses having wo...
  7. Nursing & Depression

SuchIsLife...much of what you and others on here wrote I too have experienced...the dream job offer only to screw it up because of anxiety, depression, rumination...I have tried, for YEARS, to control my thoughts, "think happy", taking over the count...
  8. Happier at work than at home?

Is anyone happier/less stressed at work then at home? I know this may sound "crazy" to many of you but I find being at work - though busy is actually a break from being home and I find myself less...depressed/anxious/irritable. We live in a rural ar...
  9. Happier at work than at home?

Thank you to all who replied. You have no idea how much ALL of your comments and suggestions have helped...I sincerely mean that.
  10. Being bought by DaVita,,,,help!!!!

I was offered a position w/Davita sometime back. I declined it because of the required travel - both in and out of state - as well as being told there is a Davitease (?) language that is spoken and team mates work 10-14 hours/day every day they work....
  11. Satellite Healthcare.....Renal Advantage, Inc...????

I was offered a position with Davita last year...It was GREAT money but I was shocked when I was told the days are an "average" of 10-12 hours and that traveling to meetings within state and out of state was required. Though the clinic was nice and t...
  12. Gwinnett Medical Center PRN RN question..

It's for one of the medical floors...it seems the majority of what's available is 4 hr shifts which are to cover the gap between shift changes. There are about 5 available for the next schedule. I thought for sure there would be a lot more PRN need b...
  13. How Long?

Already had it before I took and passed the boards. It seems it's not that seamless for new grads now.
  14. What if you don't want to be an RN anymore?

First, I would suggest seeing someone re: the depression...that alone can color your perception of yourself and your life and effect your ability to think clearly, etc. Make sure there is nothing going on physically with you - hormones, etc. as well....
  15. Is it legal for Davita to do these things??

    Tish88...I sent you a PM.
  16. Is it legal for Davita to do these things??

I have been considering a position in a small dialysis clinic but have been hesitant for several reasons..this news makes things even more difficult...if the good nurses leave how will things change? who will fend for these patients and yet, how can ...
  17. RN Bachelor's Degree

I went straight the 4 yrs (high school to college for my BSN). Wasn't an issue and in fact, actually helped me land a job that I otherwise wouldn't have been considered for. My advice is if you can go on to your BSN now, go - you have no idea what li...
  18. helppp, i think i hate nursing

You may find long term care to be a better fit..or look to a health dept., or home health. These areas of nursing, depending on where you live, will hire a nurse w/less than a year. If nights is tough on you, I don't think switching to days would hel...
  19. I don't enjoy nursing school...

Doctors offices by and large hire MA's..as far as education..usually you have to have a BSN and/or certifications for whatever you would like to teach..some smaller hospitals will hire nurses into the education dept. without these credentials as will...
  20. MMmmmm...ok...interviewed for a dialysis position a little over a month ago..between the interview and today I was verbally offered the position based on the usual..background, drug screen, color blind test...have done all those on 3 separate occasio...
  21. If you went to an independent lab for this job call them and ask. Even if they did test for ETOH..if you stopped drinking before 1 a.m. (you went to sleep then) by 11 a.m. the level, even with the large amount of ETOH you drank would come down some.....
  22. Thought I had the dialysis job...but no word in over a week..

Yes, I meant the mileage..I didn't think/expect to be reimbursed..I know its part of the hiring process but I really am at a loss as to why I have heard nothing at all. I am not going to call or email again. I hope you are right and it's just the fac...
  23. I'm tired of working 4 X 12's

Could not imagine your schedule or some of the other ones mentioned on here. It exhausts me just reading about them.
  24. 10 hours shifts REALLY 10 hour shifts?

From what I understand from the hiring manager, there is only one RN scheduled for the day - for 10 hours - the hiring manager is an RN so he is there for most of the day if back up is needed. Thank you for replying..I want to make an informed decisi...
