  1. I used the following resources: 1. Kaplan Strategies, Practice, & Review 2014-2015 - this book was GREAT for testing strategies and I felt the questions were challenging. 2. Saunders Comprehensive Review - great for content review.. The questions were a little on the easier side so I only answered them when I needed a break from harder questions. 3. Lippincott Q&A - used this book throughout nursing school and bought the updated version to use. I mainly answered questions on the disc for nclex prep. 4. LaCharity's Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment - this book is GOLF for NCLEX prep!! Seriously, this book prepared me the best for NCLEX 5. NCLEX-RN mastery iPhone app - loved having questions on my phone to answer if I was waiting in line somewhere or away from my books. The questions are a little easy but good for content review. 6. NCSBN Learning Extension NCLEX review - I bought the 3 week course for $50 and it was a complete waste of money. The content review was overly simplified.. And the questions were much harder compared to the NCLEX. I focused more on doing as many practice questions as I could and only reviewed content I consistently missed. I also read all rationales to understand why the answer I chose was correct or incorrect. Hope this helps!!
  2. Just thought I would return to this post and let you all know I PASSED in 75 questions!!!! Now, time to relax until I start my job on Monday! :)
  3. Nvm just saw you were in Texas.. What has been the outcome of your situation?
  4. The best advice I ever got was remember to BREATHE during the exam.. Sounds silly, huh? Before this advice, I didn't realize I was holding my breath for a few seconds when I came across a question that I didn't know right away. Your brain needs that oxygen! Whenever I sit down to take an exam I always take a few deep breaths and give myself a pep talk. "You're going to rock this exam! You got this!" That sort of thing. It keeps my mindset in a positive place. And this has been said before.. Do something relaxing today. :) As far as NCLEX advice goes, I don't have any for you yet because I don't take mine until 6/10. Good luck!
  5. Thanks all!! I take my NCLEX June 10th. I've been working through the kaplan strategy book and afterwards will move onto lacharity and lippincott. I don't feel weak on content.. My biggest weakness is implementing the correct strategy to answer questions and the kaplan book has helped a ton.
  6. Hello all, I'm new to posting on this board.. Though I've been reading through forums for years. I just graduated from an ADN program and take my NCLEX in a few weeks. Just looking for some words of encouragement at this point. It will be a long couple weeks prepping but I'm trying to stay positive!
  7. I second the teddy bear suggestion.. That's exactly what I did to practice all of my nursing skill outside of my schools open lab.
  8. I just got hired in the Austin area with an ADN degree. My advice to you (and other ADN graduates) is to be aggressive in your job search. I volunteered for a year at the hospital I wanted to work at then hand delivered my resume and cover letter to the unit manager after submitting my application online. A week and a half later I got a call for an interview for my dream job and was hired on the spot. She did ask me what my plans were for obtaining my BSN but there was no time frame set. Jobs are out there.. You just have to set yourself apart. :)
  9. I'm also curious about how well the Hesi actually predicts NCLEX success. I'm still on the fence about taking the hurst review.. as I'm recently divorced and have very little disposable income. I scored a 1095 on my exit Hesi and feel I know content pretty well. So, it's difficult for me to justify the cost. OP, let us know when you take the hurst review and what you thought of it. :)
  10. I'm 23 and bought a rolling suitcase. It seemed to be the cheaper way to go but I'm kind of wishing I had gone with the more expensive rolling backpack. It'll suffice though. Most of the students in my class of 30 use rolling backpacks. The ones that don't got ebooks. So, don't worry about feeling out of place. You're saving your back now. The younger ones will surely be tending to injuries later on.
