  1. Sorry I answered the wrong question. what is PV? mine was in california. Last I looked at the question, it was #253. I think I reached to 260+ before it shut down. Max question at that time (10yrs ago) was 275. It's not easy to say u failed or passed based on your length of testing. The attitude that helped me cope during the tensed days of Waiting was to not think I passed -bec I’d be disappointed f I get the result in postal mail and it reads the opposite. I also didn't want to think that I failed bec who wants to feel more miserable during the waiting days? good luck! I hope u get great news soon!
  2. Sorry to hear you went through this. I would say consult a lawyer (yea it is pricey). but I hope you'll eventually hear from one of the members with lived experience, or who can recommend a good lawyer that he/she had already hired for same reason. Also, I wish you the best in finding a new job that you love and will give you peace of mind and happiness. You can withdraw your 401K, or keep it and let it grow or roll it into Roth IRA (I am not familiar with Roth but I heard that's a great avenue...pls don't follow my advise without consulting a reliable financial advisor). Your retirement, I think you will start getting it once u reach the "retirement age" -- again, pls consult the experts on retirement pay.
  3. Thank you so much RNNPICU, BSN, RN! I appreciate your response and helpfulness! : )
  4. hi...I was tracking back my history and saw this. wondering if you are now licensed. I hope you are.
  5. Hi MunoRN. You are right. I am not a current student. Just want to put that in writing so the others will stop ASSuming.
  6. TriciaJ, RN, you can say this is homework and I will not argue anymore bec I know what I know. But please be aware, there are so many internet sites to get homework answers from. The reason I asked it here is to get input from EXPERIENCED, PROFESSIONAL, RESPECTFUL NURSES who would be more than happy to share their actual experience or similar experience. If I were after for theoretical answers, there's Google and much more. but I was after LIVED EXPERIENCES.
  7. I can search many websites for answers to homework. I consulted here bec I thought members here have rich nursing experience and some may be more than happy to share their knowledge/experience.
  8. hmm..5% dextrose is more common than 0.5% and since its a grapevine story, I would say that maybe I heard 5% dextrose. I know this matters to your answer but I could not remember well.
  9. Yess... THANK YOU SOUTHPAW!! I asked it here bec I thought this site has members made up of kind, respectful, experienced, professional nurses who are more than happy to share what they know. I just got curious of the story that I heard. I'm a nosy rosy sometimes. That's how I get in trouble and that's how I learn too. If this was homework, I could search the net for answers. But I consulted here bec I wanted to hear from the seasoned nurses who would be more than happy to share what they know or if they have experienced similar situation. Since I don't know what is the right answer either, I am not able to say if your reply was correct. But it is the most detailed, smart sounding answer and it looks like you really put your best knowledge. And your reply has a huge tone of respect and you have empathy. Some answers make me appreciate your answer so much more! : ) But I am thankful just the same to everyone's input. The difference is that other answers get my respect and appreciation.
  10. you mean IV's are topics for LPN-RN? ADN-BSN? BSN-MSN? I would think this topic is too basic for those degrees, no? If this was homework, the answers I would need would be theoretical answers. Google and many other internet sites could provide that. I asked it here because I was looking for answers based on EXPERIENCE and I thought most members here are rich with experiences and are more than happy to share their expertise and knowledge. So, to all who took my questions seriously and took their time to wring their brain for what they know, THANK YOU!
  11. Yes, a/e is adverse effect. At least that's what I was taught and I see it a lot written by several clinical disciplines.
  12. hi RNNPICU, BSN, RN. Thank you for your reply. Yes, you are right. LBM is loose bowel movement. not sure if LBM was confirmed. MD ordered NS + 20mE of KCl. What was given was D5 0.5 NS + 20mEq of KCl. That's where my curiosity focused on. Repercussion, meaning what could have happened to the RN who gave the wrong IV? Based on the story, after IV administration, patient was fine, no change in LOC, no untowards effect from the IV. Pt was on the IV bec MD ordered it bec of the LBM X7 in 15 hours.
  13. Hi FolksBtrippine, BSN, RN. Because you worded your suspicion smartly, I will respectfully comment on your suspicion. This is truly not a homework. Story through grapevines and I just got curious to what happened after the fact to the patient and the nurse because we didn't hear it from the story that we heard. Thank you for all the hints and topics to ponder!
  14. hi jennylee321. what made you say this was a homework?
  15. Congratulations! I hope you already have your NYS RN license by now. But if not, I hope this still comes helpful. This is what I found online: http://www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htm
  16. Hi canclexrn, bsn, rn! I am not sure if California has a list of RN passers. But I know you can do online verification using your last name and first name. OR if you already know the license#, you can search it by license #. Best of luck! I hope you got it!
  17. The colleague who shared the story was not the owner of the story so I didn't know how the owner handled/responded. Asking my question back to me, I thought it that it needed to be documented appropriately such as "Md ordered_____, ________given. Patient monitored closely. No a/e (if really no a/e) of _____. Would you have other or better ideas? Nursing measures: close assessment of pt x 3 days or per facility protocol. Would you have other ideas? Corrections? I don't know what would be the correction on the nurse's part but maybe ask. Should it be coming from the md? Would you have other suggestions? Repercussion: I don't know...Would you know?

    Now we know.
  19. Patient reported to have LBM X 7 since morning (its now 7pm). Aide reported only 1 BM all day, soft and formed. MD ordered NS with KCl 20mEq. 0.5% Dextrose and .45NaCl with KCl 20mEq given, patient tolerated well. Patient has NO history of DM or not on sugar watch. What could be the a/e of the given IV? What would be the anticipated nursing measures? Documentation? Corrections? Repercussion? Thank you all!
