Sick over the NCLEX
I know waiting on your results is tough, but if you only had 85 questions, you more than likely passed. I was also in your same position not long ago, I graduated top of my nursing class and when I was sitting there at that computer taking the exam, I felt like a total idiot! And when the computer shut off at 85 I almost burst into tears. I drove my husband crazy for the next couple of days until I got my passing results. So how you are feeling right now is normal, try not to worry too much because it is out of your hands right now. Best of luck to you & let me know how you did when you get your results.

Advice on study materials/Lab values ?
Keep studying the review books, because they teach you the correct way to answer questions, make sure you read all rationales, because they will help you piece things together. Don't get too bogged down in lab values, just remember the big ones like: specific gravity, norm 1.010 (just remember 1010), WBC 4.5-11,000, neutophils make up 60% and they are the first soliders to fight infection, if you have low WBC(leukopenia) just remember patient will need to be in protective isolation. RBC's 4.5-6, Hemoglobin carries oxygen to cell, Female values 12-16 and male 14-18. Hematocrit is % of fluids, ratio of cells to blood, thus indicates hydration level, for female 36-48%, male 40-54%. So for example is hematocrit is high, means patient is dehydrated. Platelets 150-500,000, remember thrombocytopenia, they are the bleeders and you need to watch energy levels. Anytime you see penia just remember it is too little of something. Know your norm for ph 7.35-7.45, high pH alkalosis, low pH acidosis. Sodium 135-145, Potassium 3.5-5. Make sure you know your insulins, preventing hypoglycemia is very important. Just remember when you have peaks you have hypoglycemic events & these patients are prone to infection. Also here are some test-taking strategies: eat before the exam, drink some orange juice just before going into the exam, keep warm, take a sweater so you don't waste body energy, make sure the answer matches the stem, the test is patient centered, so what you as a nurse is going to do is the answer, use your gut & don't change answers, remember airway first, then safety. Hope this helps, good luck!

What do/did you say when...
I have been asked that same question so many times! I already have a B.S. in exercise science & it seems as if no one can understand why I would not have gone into RN school instead. So I asked our program coordinator who has her BSN how she felt about what people were saying to me. She told me to hold my head up high and to remember that LPN's are the backbone of the nursing profession. So whenever some idiot asks me that question I think of her response and it makes me feel so much better. However, I am going to go back to school to get my RN, but until then I am not going to let anyone bring me down because I am very proud to be a LPN:wink2:

What is the most questions anyone has had on the NCLEX-PN exam?
My best friend just took nclex-pn last week and passed with 160 questions. She did not even study until a couple of days before test. I studied very hard for months before nclex and passed with 85 questions.

Nclex Pn
More than likely you passed if the computer shut off at 85. I took the nclex last week and passed with only 85 and so did two of my classmates! So try not to worrry too much about it!

Cried (I mean BAWLED) all the way home from Memphis
I took my nclex-pn last week and it shut off at 85. I was freaking out because I just knew I failed. I got my results last friday and I passed. So don't worry most people feel the same way you do. Two of my classmates also shut off at 85 and they both passed. So try not to worry, I just know you passed!!
