  1. Hello! To be honest, I watched a lot of youtube videos (such as Mike Linares channel called simple nursing) and then there are diseases and disorders cartoons that were very helpful! I also used the NCLEX Mastery app because I could do NCLEX questions any second I had down time. It gives rationale for everything and reading the rationale really made things made sense. Hope this helps! GOOD LUCK!!
  2. Hello! I recently completed my BSN. Im interested in possibly BSN to DNP. I originally thought i might just pursue a masters degree but thought i should just go all the way. Im having a hard time deciding on a track. Informatics is kinda a love of mine because im an introvert but i dont want a M-F, 8-5 + on call job. Educator was appealing because I could work from home and some of my loans could possibly be forgiven. FNP seems like it may have a good job outlook, high pay, and you can be an educator. My experience in nursing has only been about 17 months on a med/surg floor. Im 36 and am feeling the time crunch. I have 2 young children and no support system other than my husband (who works 50 hrs/week ) so school cant be super demanding. I just dont know where to go from here. I would appreciate any advice.
  3. Yes, I did learn the decision tree and will try to utilize it again. It didnt really make much sense to me before but Ill try it again. Thanks for the input!!!
  4. I graduated from nursing school in December of 2012. I have taken the test 1 time and failed. I have taken the self-guided online Kaplan review course and a review course that my college required. I am a visual learner. I HATE READING! I have comprehension problems. So, my issue is that I feel like I've lost all of my knowledge from school. I don't know what to do to pass this test. I feel like I need a private tutor or a nursing school review--not only a class to teach me how to take the test. The Kaplan review failed me because I didnt dedicate the time to it. I've wasted so much money trying to find what will work for me. Any suggestions?! LOOKING FOR SCHOOL REVIEWS? Have difficulty deciding which nursing school to attend? Trust your peers. See what they have to say. Do they recommend the school? How was their experience? What do they think of the instructors? Is the school affordable? This is what you will find at Best Nursing Universities and Colleges | Peer Reviews directory.
  5. Thanks for all of the info guys!! I am interviewing for a clerical position soon! Have a phone interview scheduled. Just a comment on the Physical Capability Test: Nursing Now | Cleveland Clinic This link will take you to a video of the test and what you should expect. Doesnt seem too bad! Good luck to everyone!
  6. Could I use possibly "risk for urinary tract infection related to improper perineal hygiene?" This is a normal female infant.
  7. Hello! I am SOOOOOOO stuck on creating a nursing diagnosis for the human need of sexuality for a newborn. PLEASE HELP!!
  8. Great reply Kalevra! Thanks for your time!
  9. Thanks for everyone's reply! I WISH we had the info about our patient the night before. That would be so helpful. I have actually completed 2 quarters of clinicals so far. I will be starting 3rd (out of 6) quarter tomorrow (Thursday). Clinicals start next week. I guess I just need to practice my head to toe so its in my head so I can try to take care of that while I am doin the bed bath. Last quarter, every patient got a bed bath, everyday per agency protocol. Which I didnt have a problem with but they couldve given the patients the option to shower on their own considering they had showers in their rooms. If anyone has anymore advice, I would appreciate it! :)
  10. NurseMaybeBaby: are these general docs that you could share with me?
  11. I meant that if you ARE NOT speaking on a cellular level, it is not patho. Oops.
  12. I have a huge issue with time management. So, I was wondering what everyone does on a typical clinical day? I guess the things we were told to do prior to hitting the floor would be to research the drugs I would be giving for the day and research my patients diagnosis to understand how to care for them. After going on to the floor, I would wash my hands, check my physician orders to my orders that were printed from the computer, greet my patient, give their bath, do assessment and nursing history, etc... Would this be the right sequence or should I switch it up? Are there any other things I should do to prepare? Of course the worst times for me are bathing and doing the nursing history. I literally wore my patient out on the last day of clinicals last quarter because I was in there most of the morning and a little into the afternoon. Imagine if I had more than 1 patient! What a nightmare. Please help.
  13. My teacher told me that if you are speaking about the disease on a cellular level, its not patho.
