  4. It's overwhelming to think about especially with your circumstances but if u can manage I say go for it..one day at a time is all a person can do..if u put it off now you may find it harder to come back around to in the future!! I ordered books today..stressing out lol..20 of 23 books and 750 bucks later lol..they should b here next week...only 3 days of freedom left!! Orientation is Monday!!! Aaaahhh!!
  5. I have been so excited and skipping along since I found out I was accepted to grad school..now the introductory emails from my instructors are coming in and it's all about to get real! Lol I'm excited and ready..but I'm also nervous..I have 2 concentrations for my DNP..one in Acute Care and one in FNP..sounds overwhelming as I type it out lol...just looking for any tips from anyone who has been thru a similar program with more than one specialty or any help at all on how to keep my head above water lol..that would b great!!:) Exciting time for all who are about to start!:)
  6. Hi driven1!! I just sent u a pvt message!!:))
  7. I think you should skip the LPN thing and go straight for ur BSN..u could enroll in a community college and take all the basics required for the BSN program at a much cheaper rate..make awesome grades and tx to the university for the BSN then..if u have the time to put in to it...it's just gna b better to do the BSN first..lots of job openings within the hospitals are pushing for BSN nurses...they are forcing a change in what is required for an entry level position..I took lots of extra steps in my career..cna>rn>bsn> now on to dnp...I could have done it quicker and borrowed less money to do so lol...just my thoughts!:)
  8. There are programs out there where you can do dual specialties..ex: acute care & fnp
  9. I know of people who graduated from a BSN program and applied to an FNP DNP program and got in...so no it's not impossible!!
  10. Congrats! I start a DNP program in a week, ready to get started!!
  11. 1. UTHSC Memphis 2. DNP, Acute Care & FNP 3. Working full time, ICU 4. School full time 5. Super excited!!!
  12. I am set to attend a DNP program with a dual track..acute care & fnp..i chose to do that because it would give me a specialty and something to fall back on with the fnp..my area in the country are not yet utilizing the acute care np in the hospitals but with the dual specialty, I'm hoping to find a place in my home town..
  13. I got in to UT Memphis....start in a week!!:))
  14. University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis has the option you are looking for..they also participate in the academic common market program...you can apply to this program if you live in a participating state and attend UT at an instate rate...ex: I live in AR and will be attending UT in TN at an instate tuition rate...my tuition went from 14,000 a semester to 6,000 because of this program...I don't know if Cali is a participant or not tho..just a suggestion..
  15. UTHSC in Memphis TN has a BSN-DNP program online and there is a psych option..they also have dual tracks where you could do psych & fnp if you wanted to have both.
  16. I have been accepted in the UTHSC DNP program for the Acute Care and FNP dual track...orientation is a week away and I am super excited!!!:)))))
  17. I am applying for one of ut memphis dnp tracks and I have a question about how they look at your gpa. I was told by a lady who worked there that they look at most recently completed degree. In my case it is a RN-BSN program. My overall gpa for all classes taken is around a 3.26. My gpa for classes taken in the RN-BSN program is a 3.93. My question is are they going to look at only the classes I have taken in the RN-BSN program or are they also going to take in to account basics (a/p, chem, psychology etc..) My sciences were required for my associates but they are also required for my bachelors..so I am having a hard time figuring out exactly what they are looking at..if that makes any sense at all..my most recent degree is the bsn which is a 3.93 but if they start factoring classes I also had to take for my associates..I have no idea how far down it will take my gpa..any one have any similar experiences from uthsc specifically or a school who looks at it in a similar fashion??
