Spring 13 Goldfarb school of Nursing class
Are you doing the accel. Or trad. Program? I'm starting accel. In jan. if you haven't found a place id just recommend that you look at the place in person, not all the areas around Barnes are the best so it's good to check them out. There are some nice apartments near though that are in nice places with restaurants, etc nearby. I live like 30 min. Away, although I don't like the drive the rent is cheap. I'm 'planning' on listening to lectures on the way to/from school... We'll see if I actually do though!

Micro, A &P on their own??
It depends really on you. I decided to take a lot of classes together, and not work this semester so I can begin the nursing program sooner. I'm taking AP I and Micro both with lab, nutrition, and psychology. 14 credits. It's really tough, but not impossible. I just dedicate more to school since I'm not working. If you can, I recommend taking AP before Micro. If you don't have to take them together that's probably best. It's a lot of reading and memorizing.

A&P 2 and Microbio in same semester?
It kind of depends on how much you're working- I'm taking A&P 1, Micro, Nutrition, and Psychology this semester and work part time also with a 2 year old. When I'm working it's really hard, and I'm trying to work less and less so I can study more. I wish that I weren't taking 2 hard classes together, but it's okay. If youve already taken Ap1 I think micro will be easier in some ways because there are some similarities. If you can, wait and take micro later, and add an easier class instead. My online classes have been easier than the in class classes, so ask around at your school what's best. You don't want to mess around with AP in nursing though, take the class that will teach you the most.

Mom & Student
Hi, I already responded to a different post you have, but anyway I'm also planning on going to Goldfarb in 2013 and I have a 2 yr. Mine takes nice naps, but not everyday anymore, so I do some then, but I also study during breakfast (he's a slow eater). He likes to sit up at the table and do homework with me, and has his play computer. And he is getting to watch more movies than before, lol. I take a book where ever I go because I've found that 5 minutes here and there makes a big difference. Some of the on-line classes at SLCC are pretty easy, easier than the in-class ones, so if you can do the online ones it seems better. I'm taking A&P I and Micro, psych. and nutrition now and working some also- I 'try' and do some A&P and Micro daily, and the other 2 not so much. My kid is kind of used to my working at home though because I have to also do some work at home.

Goldfarb vs. Chamberlain
Hi Isaacsmom09, I'm also planning on going to Goldfarb Accel. starting spring 2013, so we might be there together! I think we're going to be pretty busy... have you finished the pre-reqs? I just started them this spring, and am taking a bunch now so hopefully I'll be able to work more in the fall to save some $.

Going back to school for RN after many, many years
Hi, I just wanted to tell you if you can, do not take micro and a&P at the same time with other classes. I'm taking A&P, Micro, Psych. and Nutrition and it's really a lot of work! Especially if you have kids and/or work. Good luck!

Career changers? What is your previous degree in? What was your previous career?
Spore2008, lol I guess I never thought about it but I have had a pretty exciting last 10 years traveling and living in Mexico. I play the oboe, and am just now starting the (pre) pre reqs, I'm taking an online biology course as a brush up and will be starting more in the spring, at the community college. I'm going to apply to Goldfarb in St. Louis. Where are you in school? The main thing that makes me nervous is the financial aspect, of not working etc., but I'm thinking about getting a part time tech position until I start the accel. Part.

Career changers? What is your previous degree in? What was your previous career?
It's interesting to see all of the different backgrounds. I'm a professional musician, and have been in a symphony in Mexico for the past 6 years. I moved back to the states to be with my family, and am looking for a new career because music is very difficult and not a very stable job here. I'm a single mom, with a 2 year old. I've been subbing public school and have my teaching certification but have always been interested in medicine and love working with people so I want to go to nursing school. I have my bs in englsh and music, and masters and doctorate in music. I'm hoping to eventually be able to use Spanish (I'm bilingual) in a nursing job.
