Hi guys, I have been reading that a few of you already purchased and are starting to read the textbooks. I am actually starting to order my books now so if anyone has any info as to where I can buy at a better rate please let me know. Meanwhile I just ordered the Fundamentals of Nursing 7th ed (used) for $29.43 at TextbooksRus (at MDC it's $110.00).

Congrats Jael and Naty and the others who got accepted into the Baptist Scholars!! I called in to check if I got in but unfortunatly I did not. I am so, so sad!!!!

It was a pleasure meeting you guys yesterday! I am looking forward to our journey as well. Meanwhile we need to buy lots of supplies so if you guys have sugestions on where to buy quality items at better prices than what they sell for at the book store your lets share the info on the forum..

Guys, I am comming from the Doral area and I think traffic will be bad but I never travel to that part of town in rush hour, so if anyone has an Idea of the amount of time it will take me to get there considering traffic let me know. I was thinking leaving around 7 am (what do you guys think). I read that the Medical campus students on the thread did not get to meet each other due to traffic delays.

I would love to meet all of you and maybe we can register for some of the same classes if we are in the same sequence.The vending machines sound great to me.

I just got the call from Baptist also and I will also be interviewing tomorrow.

Hi guys, I am sure many of you attended orientation yesterday. How was it? What did you learn about the program that you didn't know or that was exciting or intersting or maybe not so interesting. Give us some feed back. Us homestead students will not attend orientation till the EOM.

naty, we will not see the book advance till we have schedules because the amount of the book advance depends on the amount of the total credit you are attempting. and i assume we will not have our schedules till all admits have gone to the second mandatory meeting in which we take that ati test that will place you in the sequence that better suits your learning style. at least this is my understanding. hope it helps.

naty5057, Thanks for the insight on the baptiost interview. I have not received a call yet but hopefully I will soon. But is it me or do these questions they ask in the interview have no real wrong or right answer. What do you do when you know that someone calling in sick is not really sick? Do you tell a supervisor or mind your business? What is you biggest mistake? are they refering to our personal or professional lives? Now I am even more nervous because I don't think there are conclusive answers to these questions. :smackingf

Thanks for the info Yisy! I think these people don't know what they are doing! I also think they actually charged me for the vaccine when they could of put it through my insurance. Oh well....

I have a question regarding the Hep B vaccine; If and whe you guys got it did the doctor tell you about comming back for the second and third dose???? I think the staff at the doctors office I chose was not to familiar with the administration of this vaccine and they told me I did not need to come back for any more doses but the MDC paperwork states it is to be 3 doses????

FYI guys, I actually have health insurance and I have spent just a little under the cost Yisy stated so $ 170 is a great price. My co-pay to see my primary was $35 + TB test were $30ea x 2, and then I was not immune to the measels so that vaccine was another $35. + the Hep B vaccine was another $35. BTW, per my Dr. health insurance only covers the cost of vaccines if you are under 18.

I have not heard from Baptist yet. Hopeully we will hear from them soon.

I would be nice to meet some of you at orientation. Who will be attending the full time homestead orientation on the 29th.

rnati, i have a similar issue with the titers. apparently i did not get the measles vaccine therefore i have no immunity towards the measles. i called the nursing dept. with regards to how i proceed in this case and they advised i get the vaccine asap and advise them of the issue the day of orientation. after vaccination i need to get the titer done again because proof of vaccination is not acceptable but i can only get the titers done 30 days after being vaccinated and i have to turn in the titters result to nursing dept before the holiday break. this is was what i was told by the person who answered the phone in the nursing dept but please call yourself and ask just in case they advise differently. let me know what they tell you.

hi guys, please take a look at this as it is posted in the website for requiments provide supporting documentation for the following: a. measles(rubeola), mumps and rubella(german measles) blood titer lab results b. 5 panel drug screening results in a sealed envelope from the lab. c. two current (within the past 6 months) consecutive tb skin tests (at least 3 days apart). *all necessary guidelines regarding the completion of the student health record can be found on the front page of the student health record i wanted to ask if anyone had noticed this, because i didn't and i already did my drug screening at my primary and not at the lab so i dont have my results in a sealed envelope from the lab but, i guess i could ask my doctor to put them in one of their envelopes. what do you guys think?

Has anyone heard from Baptist after turning in the scholars app. I am wondering if all applicants get called for interview or not.

congrats to all who have recently received the acceptance letters. for those waiting, please don’t be discouraged i am sure a few more letters will go out soon. but don't give up on you dreams if you don’t get in this time around. last year i actually applied to keiser and paid around $400 in app fees (i was an idiot for paying this but i really wanted to start my nursing career) and i got rejected! (how dare they reject me) lol........ i has heart broken and felt i was not good enough if i couldn't get into keiser but then i picked myself up and took my classes at mdc, applied to their program and got in (hooray). i always thought to myself that everything happens for a reason, i didn't get accepted at keiser because god had a different plan for me and his plan was defiantly better! so keep your head up and keep on trying. it will work yout for you too.:)
