TEAS v study time and score
I took the TEAS-V. This was about two months ago. Yes, it had a lot of earth science and biology questions. It had been forever since I studied any of that stuff, which is why I focused on that section exclusively. There were A&P questions too but those were at least much fresher in my mind! Others I know who took it did pretty much the same thing; a friend of mine is a genius at math and science but struggles with reading comprehension and grammar, so she zeroed in on that section in the ATI book and scored well.

TEAS v study time and score
I purchased the ATI manual and used it to study for about a week before my test, and scored a 90. I spent about two hours the day before the test working on the science section, which is my weakest area. I suggest focusing on your weak point too, since it makes studying so much simpler.

applying with minimum gpa
My school's minimum gpa is 2.5 and my gpa is a 2.72. They accepted me into the program because my TEAS score was a 90 and the average score for our program applicants was a 67. So don't base all your hope on one aspect of the application, there are always other ways to make yourself seem like a desirable candidate!

Head to toe assessments on classmates?
Wow, I stumbled into this thread and now I'm freaking out a bit. I don't start the program until January, but I had no idea we'd be practicing on each other to that sort of level. I'm a little worried. I have no problem whatsoever working on another person, however disrobed, but I'm extremely private about my body. I NEVER wear shorts or a tank top in public. And all these assessments are done in the classroom/lab setting, not one on one? Geez, as if I needed another aspect of the nursing program to stress myself over...

Polk State College Spring 2012!
Hoping to find more future PSC nursing students who received their acceptance letters in the mail recently! With our orientation a few weeks away, I'd love to discuss our hopes and fears about the program together so please post here if you're starting the program, or if you're already IN the program and can offer some tips!

When will I get my TEAS Score?
If you're taking the computerized test I imagine you get your scores instantly. I took my TEAS-V a couple months ago and my scores popped up on the screen instantly when I was done. I don't see why there'd be a delay. Good luck!

Finally accepted after two years!
I just got an acceptance letter after submitting my THIRD application to my school's nursing program. I never thought it would happen. I received great grades in my nursing pre-reqs, but unfortunately I'd taken (and bombed) TONS of classes at my cc before realizing what career path I wanted to follow. That left me with a nursing program GPA of 3.4...but a cumulative GPA of 2.7, which was above my school's minimum of 2.5, but definitely not strong enough to gain acceptance into our competitive program. For two years I'd taken classes towards my BSN to try and boost my GPA more, but I'd just about given up and had been prepared to transfer to another university for a completely unrelated bachelor's program when my school started requiring the TEAS-V for prospective nursing students. The TEAS saved my life! I took it for the first time when the spring 2012 application period started and scored a 90; my school's requirement was a 60, and the mean was a 64. I'm 100% certain the test score is the reason why I got in after so long. Of course I wish this had happened two years ago but better later than never. It just goes to show that if you really want it you should never give up, even if acceptance seems impossible, you never know what could change in your favor!
