I always sit on the last row, preferably on the side so I can 'escape' more easily. Escaping would be skipping the remainder from the class once they've taken attendance or when the lecture bores me too much. If I showed up at all that is... oh I loved those student days... :)
I wanted to get floor experience first as well but they needed someone in the ER when I started so I immediately went there and I don't regret it! And while ICU would teach you many skills (only did one month there myself) it's a whole other ballgame working in the ER.
Most seem to insist on the three years ER or ICU experience. If you only have two years but a really good background they might consider you but I guess you'll be a bit lower on the list of candidates.
