  1. RN/Writer and Royal Nurse, Thanks for the posts. I am going to get an extension on my loans, but I have been putting it off hoping I would get a job. Getting an extension would kinda mean I have lost hope. I wish I would have graduated back in 2007 when things were much better. Oh well, have a great weekend!!:)
  2. RN/Writer, Thanks for your pep talk! :) Even though I feel silly since I did not get the job, I know I did the right thing by sending the notes and I took the high road instead of the pity-party road. I really hope something comes soon since the student loan "payment due" letters are arriving. I know I can get an extension, but that is just putting a band-aid on a gushing $40K wound. On my bad days, the investment doesn't seem worth it. Thanks again!
  3. PatteRn, So sorry to hear your news. I know exactly how you feel. I have had 2 more email rejections as well, so it was not a good week. I just sigh, delete/forget them and move on. Keep you chin up, we didn't make it this far and end up not getting a job. It WILL happen!!!
  4. RNbakes, Thanks for your post. That was creative, never thought about doing that! I guess in this market one has to think outside of the box.
  5. PatteRN, Thank you sooo much for your post! I hope you hear good news. Please keep me posted. As you said, one day (I hope sooner than later) we will be working . We'll look back on this experience and laugh (well, maybe not). This experience builds character and it will certainly make me appreciate my job. Good luck!!
  6. TonyaM73, Good advice and I can only dream that will happen to me. Thanks for your help.
  7. Thank you ladies for your replies! I would prefer to call and ask to hand deliver my resume, but most of the time the phone number is not listed. Do you just call HR and will they give you the NM's phone number? Will they give you the name of NM as well? I tried this once somewhere else and they would not give me the number or name. Thanks for your help.:)
  8. Yuzamatuzz, I guess I'm too old school. I need to rethink my strategy. Thanks for your help.:)
  9. Tokmom and Xtxrn, Thank you for your replies. It makes sense, just a little awkward. But heck, I'll do it! Thanks again.
  10. Do NM's really want applicants to show up on their unit in person with their resume in hand? I recently had a NM say he gave special consideration to those applicants who went out of their way to meet him. I thought this might be rude. Is this what NM's want? I'm willing to do it if it will help me in my job search. Thanks for your help.:)
  11. Well, I did not get the job. The NM called me and I missed his call. He left his personal cell phone number for me to call him back. He said that he chose the applicant with prior Ortho experience. He said I was the next candidate he would have chosen (hopefully that is true, for now I'll take it). He spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me giving me feedback. Such a nice person and very professional. I would have loved to work for him. I'm so sad . My ego has taken a beating. But, I need to brush myself off because I have about $40,000 in school loans to pay back soon. Bummer. Thank you so much for replying to my thread. It's comforting to know there are nice people out there. If I can help anyone else, please don't hesitate to ask.
  12. Jolie and ArtsyCraftsy, thank you for your words of wisdom! Wow, 2 job offers, that is impressive! I hope that my sincere intentions shined through during the interview. When I get nervous, I tend to have diarrhea of the mouth and that gets me in trouble. Already mailed the thank you notes. I hope to hear tomorrow. Please check back and thank you for your kind words :).
  13. Erin S, Thank you for your reply. Whew!!! I feel a little better after your post. I keep rehashing what I said/didn't say during the interview. I'll will supposedly find out tomorrow. I will post the outcome for anyone who is interested. Thanks again :)
  14. Altra, thank you so much for your response and advice. Your right, I should send the thank you notes.
  15. Thank you for your honesty. I take everything personally and the whole job search thing is bringing me down. In my previous career I was appreciated and respected. Being a new grad, I am expected to act professional, but I am not treated that way in return. Oh well, I am knee deep in school debt and have to keep looking.
