Guys, my application got denied last month. Sorry for the late update. CA BRN wanted me to take MS and OB again which will take 2 years. So I decided to apply in New York state. Good luck to us.

Hi guys, here is an update on my application I sent my OR & DR cases (with signatures of CI, clinical coordinator, chief nurse and dean) to CA BRN, copy of SScard & copy of local license. About the other requirements, my school directly sent a copy of -school curriculum (1st-4th year) -clinical rotation schedule (list of hospitals, dates and CI) -academic calendar -answered General Nursing Program Overview questionnaire (42 questions provided by CA BRN) and those were my final requirements. I'm sorry to say that I'm still waiting for my ATT. I believe that CA BRN received those last November 21, 2011 and that made me waiting for almost 3 weeks since they received those. I am still hoping that i can take my exam before the year ends. Good luck to us guys. I'll give an update when i get mine :)

I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan classroom anywhere 499$ which is good for 3 months. Kaplan doesn't focus on content but more on test taking strategies. Although they gave me a book (which is ok for me) and video contents in online syllabus, sometimes I still end up searching for unfamiliar drugs and terms. The questions are great and they explain correct and wrong answers. In NCSBN 50$ for 3 weeks, they explain the correct answer only. But they have comprehensive review on every module and post test at the end. bottomline, I prefer kaplan, maybe because I already took a comprehensive review in the Philippines for my local board. Good luck to both of us, i'm planning to take before the year ends but still waiting for my ATT :)

I received a letter from BRN weeks after I sent them my application. They are asking to give additional requirements not mentioned in their website such as: -copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing and major/minor surgeries -A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum -a one page curriculum outline and academic calendar. (My school said this is the first time CA BRN required school curriculum but maybe different depending on what school) they also asked for a copy of my local license and SS number. I am also a Phil grad batch 2011 living in west covina CA :) still waiting for ATT, goodluck to both of us :)

hello there, where can i contact a Licensing Analyst? are they representative of BON? same problem here. BRN required me a copy of school curriculum plus other requirements. I am very sure that I'm not the first to take nclex from my school. Sad to say that my mom is doing all the work for my documents in the Philippines.

CA is getting strict on international nurses. Maybe you can write an explanation letter about local license, but I've heard that they really require a SS number. The last three reqs, you can ask your school about it. It's good if you have a copy of your OR & DR cases. Good luck to both of us ?

Yeah, I didn't expect to have additional requirements. I already mailed BRN some of it yesterday, and my school in processing the curriculum. I guess I'll just be waiting for few more weeks. Thank you ann. God bless :)

Thank you Sir for your reply. Yes, I should consider myself lucky because CA doesn't require CGFNS yet. And fortunately I had my copy of OR and DR cases. I'm just a bit confused because they stated "a copy of your clinical rotation schedule for your cases" not the list of OR & DR cases. Yesterday, I mailed them the list of my cases, copy of SS number and local license. I did my part, I wish my school will follow up the curriculum asap because I'm getting worried, I already registered at Pearson Vue even though I haven't met BRN's requirements.

I'm planning to take the exam here in California. My school already mailed my TOR and other requirements. They also said that it was only this year when we were required for school curriculum. About the Clinical Experience Record Summary, is that requirement should be directly from school? or I should be the one producing that? That would be a problem if ever because I am not making a list of duty in hospitals thank you! :)

for me, content videos in kaplan is kinda boring. i think they're just reading the slides they present. but the questions are good and challenging, requires u to think hard. i'm planning to take this november too. i wish we could be neighbors so that we can study together haha really hard to study in front of ur laptop
