  1. I suppose tachy is a bit harsh but he runs high in the high 90s occ low 100s. At 4pm his bp was 73/39 he usually runs about 65/45 but when i took it when he was transferred to the stretcher to go it was like 90/70 so I assumed it was positional. I keep running the day through my head to make sure I dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's. bloody scarey
  2. There are so many threads I dont know if I put this in the right place. I am freaking out. I have been an RN for 6 months. This morning my manager called to ask me about a patient I cared for which was transferred to a nursing home and readmitted to telemetry two hours after discharge with an MI. Her concerns: did I see any changes in his condition since the doctor saw him (No there were no changes) and did I document everything (well ***** I hope so). This patient is in his 90s came in with change in mental status after a stroke, is aphasic. Runs tachy with very low blood pressure. I checked with my charge nurse before discharge to confirm he was okay to go because of his blood pressure. The paramedics said "he does not look good" when they transferred him and I told them that this is how he looks. When I cared for him three days before there was a period where he was diaphoretic and respirations were 34, he was on aspiration precautions, lungs were clear and I called the charge nurse to come and see him. She was not concerned and this passed relatively quickly. Should I call the manager and tell her about this? I feel terrible for this man. I am also worried because his son told me how upset he was with the nursing home and how he is going to take the matter further about his dentures being coated in rotten food when he removed them for the hospital. And my God I am new so I am just freaking out.
  3. Thanks Suzanne4. I have read through the RN to BSN thread - very very overwhelming. Dont know where to start. I am an RN with ADN and want to get my MSN but have to get BSN first. I want to relocate in a year so exclusively online would be my forte. I need affordable. Some websites dont let you see their programs until you give all your information and some are hard to see if they are accredited. I dont have much time if I want to register for the fall.
  4. I would like to pursue by bachelors degree but want to do it online. Do you have any recommendations about online degree programs, I see some require clinical attendance. Any advice and experience would be welcomed and any suggestions of ones that have good reputations. thanx
  5. by the time i get home i am way too mind numb to cry but I am in my third month and I have cried 4 times at work. It just gets too much and I cannot hold it in anymore.
  6. I have had about 9 I think, I lost track.... its so disorganized. The preceptors are expected to carry 6-8 patients and still orient the newbies.
  7. Its a relief to read these posts. I feel for you. I am in my 7th week orientation, just picked up 6 patients on a med/surg floor and freaking out. I feel like a robot running around pushing meds and pushing paper, no time to care for patients or families, certainly no time to think or get the bigger picture and connect the dots. I have to believe blindly that it gets better with time.
  8. I was relieved to see this post. I am starting a review course on Saturday and already want to reschedule my date, I cannot seem to get my score above the suggested percentage. I am scared.
  9. For 4 semesters the nurses during our clinicals have been consistenly horrid. I continue to try and build relations. Each time we move to a different unit I continue to be astounded. Is this just where I am or do you all get the same attitude? Would you be interested in making a pact never to be like that when we are working?
