  1. I too have lurked in the background of AllNurses for a long time. I am coming out also! I worked as a staff OB RN for 25 years, until our department was going to implement Centricity Perinatal. I was asked to consider taking the plunge by my supervisor as the Clinical Perinatal Appilcation Specialist. I knew I was ready for an adventure and the delight of professional growth. So I studied up on Access and Excel. There were days I felt overwhelmed with the complexity of the build and implementation. But...I am very happy to report that the Staff on my unit have been documenting on the views I built for over a year now! I never have a boring day! What a delight this entire adventure was. Now the OR is asking if I will take thier system (PICIS) under my belt and modify it for thier needs. Sincerely, Kelly Lynn
  2. When: It's winter in Wisconsin. Grandpa needs to be taken to local clinic because of a badly swollen knee. I am sitting in the Doctor's clinic, half lit waiting area and gently lean back into the chair. Covering up with my coat. Soon I feel someone shaking me awake. It was one of the office nurses....asking if I was homeless.
  3. Pardon me but it is 3cm/min in the U.S.....not 4cm
  4. Unfortunately the insulting "Wash the Hands" campaign is spreading. Our Hospital has now placed the following statement on all the patient's bedside water pitchers, " Ask your Health Care Provider if they washed thier hands". At least the phrase does not single out nurses.
  5. Bad for fetus and can be bad for mom...agree wait to push.
  6. Thankyou for your responce. I am certified. Unfortunately we cannot send all our staff.
  7. I am researching what other facilities do to have their nurses trained in Fetal Monitoring Interpretation. I have the daunting task to delelope one at our hospital. Unfortunately there are tight budget constraints and will not allow us to send all staff to programs such as AWOHHN or the formal certification by Dr. Murray. Are there other programs out there? What do you use? Are there any programs that will share or allow to purchase. I just don't want to have to reinvent the wheel so to speak. Thankyou, Kelly
  8. I am a very seasoned Ob RN with 24 years experience but not a formal nurse educator. I have been given the daunting task of developing a fetal monitor strip interpretation class. Our facility is under strict budget constraints. They have had me certified in Fetal Monitoring. I have my class objectives prepared and am now developing my course content. My problem at this time is obtaining fetal monitoring strips without crossing any copyright infringements. Does anyone know of some sources for these, that would allow me to copy or purhaps do a SLM, or a power point demo? Is there a program that already exists that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg for the staff? Thankyou for your time. Kelly
