Hey guys! So I have become very dissatisfied with the hospital system I work for. Horrible benefits, lay offs, management is uncaring, etc. So I was considering travel nursing. Where I am there are not many hospital systems to choose from so I would have to drive to another outside town if I wanted to leave my current job. However I don't want to take a huge pay cut or add more stress for less money. I was looking to do travel nursing maybe 60-75 miles away each week and just get a hotel, B&B, for a couple nights or rent a small room. My current is roughly $41 an hour with a $4 shift diff for night shift. Should I stay and just tough it out or does anyone have any insight on how lucrative traveling could be compared to what I make now?

Hey everyone! I am currently a nurse in NC. I have decided to make a life change. I've always wanted to live in California and so I've decided to take the plunge and go for it. Can anyone shed some light on nursing in this state? I have heard it is quite different than here in NC. A little about me I have been a RN for 6 years. I have my ADN and BSN. I have been a med surge RN mostly, but the last two years I have been a resource RN so I work in all departments except ICU. I go where they have a need for that night I work. I have been a charge RN pretty much everywhere I have worked and previous clinical supervisor. With my experience what are the the average pay rates for nurses in CA? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much I would be making so I will know how much I would be able to afford as far as a home, etc. Thank you for any info you can provide.

Hey everyone! So I am venturing out to a travel position. I have 5 years of RN experience. BSN. ED, Med Surge, Supervisor/Management experience, Cardiac/Tele, and well as prn on the IV team at my current job. This is the offer I was given. I turned it down because it seemed low to me. I wanted to go with medical solutions because I heard such great things about the company. However trustaff who I heard less than glowing reviews has offered to beat any offer they give me. Medical solutions says they can work on the hourly rate but want me to give them a figure. Are there any nurses out there with traveler experience that can give their opinion. I am accepting a job in NC. Here is what I was offered. Is it fair? If not what would be? Thanks bunches!! Hourly Wage: $15.75 Hours guaranteed: 36.00 Overtime: $60.00 Weekly stipend: $583.00 Weekly per diem: $210 Weekly gross pay: $1,360 Coming to about $37.78 an hour.

Tomorrow is my first day. I am a little nervous but excited for my future. I will let everyone here know how it went and what I encountered. I have been told I will have it a little easier. I transfered to NC from FL and all of my course work is done. Now going into my clinicals (NUR 111). So I will not be up studying for an anatomy or micro exam then clinicals, whew!
