  1. If you go to Graceland for NP how are you liking it? I have applied for the Sping 2015 program and hopefully will get in. I just want a school that I will learn a lot from and not just get by with the minimum. Also how long is the program there? I tried to look online but can't find anything? Is it 1 class a sememster or can you double up? Thanks!!!
  2. The guy I was working with was gone all last week on vacation and should be back tomorrow so I will call him tomorrow. Thanks!!
  3. Did you guys get a phone call or a letter saying that you were accepted? I applied for the 10-27 start but put my application in August 6th through the nursing CAS just wondering how long it takes to get that phone call or letter!!
  4. I am going to start working in the ER in less than 2 weeks!!! I have my ACLS class scheduled for November 1st and 2nd and I have to get my TNCC class within the first 6 months of hire but I want to get my ACLS out of the way before doing that class. I was just wondering if there is any books you would highly recommend me reading before starting and during my orientation period. I have read several threads on here and it seems like Sheehy's is popular along with the ENA Core Curriculum Emergency book. So here are my questions.... 1)Do they usually provide you with a TNCC manual when you take the class or do have to purchase it before hand? 2) There are 2 Sheehy's books a manual and a principles and practice.. which one? or should i do the core curriculum one? I really hate dry reading!!! I just want a book that will keep me interested in it instead of feeling like im reading a different language. 3)Is there any other good ER book?? and is there any ipod touch applications you would suggust me getting? As you can tell I have a lot of questions :) ER has been the one floor I've always wanted to work on!! I have only been an RN for 3 months and have been working at LTC since April with my LPN so I only have really 6 months experience as a nurse and I know how some people feel about "new grad RN's" working in the ER right away so I just want to learn as much as I can and read as much as I can before being on my own. I figured they gave me the job so they have faith in me that much so I just want to give it my all!!! Thanks!!!
  5. The job im at right now is also through the same hospital so I know that if i put my 2 weeks in I will still have the job offer for the ER. I just thought about calling HR before putting my 2 weeks in and asking her if they can wait but I don't want to give the wrong impression that I absolutely don't want the ER job. I just want to see if I have the chance at the telemetry job since its set full-time hours. and yes it is the same lady but when I called her today and told her I had to obviously put in my 2 weeks and I would call her tomorrow she just seemed to busy to answer any questions at that time.
  6. I just got offered a part time job (60 hours every 2 weeks) in the ER yesterday. I called HR back today and pretty much told them I would love the job but I would have to talk to my DON tomorrow to put my 2 week notice in and then I would call her back and tell her my last day. She said I would either start on the 23rd of October or November 6th. But my problem is Monday I had a job interview for full time telemetry and I called them today and told them about my job offer. She said Friday after 1 they would know for sure because she has 2 more interviews and obviously can't guarentee me the job right now which I understood. Both are through the same hospital so it would be the same HR lady calling me and offering me the telemetry job if i got it. So when I figure out my last day and call the HR tomorrow should i mention to her about the telemetry job and see if I can wait to see if I get that or should i just forget about it and stick with the ER job. I absolutely love the ER and I'm surprised I got the job because I'm a new RN (3 months) worked as an LPN for 3months before then so not that much experience but its part time and I'm nervous with no ER experience except clinicals they would eat me alive. I love telemetry too and thats full time and I would so much experience there before moving eventually to the ER. So professionally what should I do? Ask if they can wait till Friday or just stick with ER???
  7. Is it a hard program to get into? I've only been an RN for 3 months but been an LPN for a year now. I only have a 2 year degree. I just didnt know how hard of a program it was for an inexperienced nurse with a 2 year degree.
  8. I have been looking around for good NP online schools and I came across Graceland University. Is there anyone on here that has went through their FNP program or is currently in their program that could help me find out if it is the right school for me??? i dont want to go into the wrong one and end up paying money for a college that wont give me a good education!!! THANKS!!!!
  9. so i took my test tuesday i got the good pop up!! i think ive done the pearson vue trick abut 300 times since then just to make sure!! i can find out the results around 1030am tomorrow for sure and i think that it will ease my anxiety a little more (hopefully)!!! i just think it will be real once i get my license in the mail and in my hand!!! does anyone from iowa know if you can check a website to see your name or how long it takes to get your rn license in the mail??
  10. yes the previous 3 times i took it i did the trick and got the cc page everytime so i was a little discourage about doing it this time but reading through the pearson vue trick forum i finally decided to do it and just get it over with... and i got the good pop up. i keep checking it every 30 mins to make sure that its right so hopefully thursday i will find out from the unoffical results and i still wont believe it till i have that license in my hand!!!! im still praying and i have never prayed this hard before in life!! lets hope i keep the good pop up this time!!
  11. so i took my nclex rn exam today for the 4th time. i know thats a lot of times!! the first time i didnt study the second time i think i was so down about failing the first time i was in a haze also i was moving at the time to a new city. third time i just got a job as an lpn and i think i was more concentrated on that then i was for boards. each time i got 265 questions and was either near passing or above passing on all of them. this time i took it and i got 75 questions. no math. no lab values. no infection control!!! and of course thats what i studied a lot of!! i prayed so much and had my fiance praying for me and all my residents at a nursing home praying for me!!! i studied so much (thats what i feel at least) and i did good throughout nursing school. never failed a class never came close to failing! this time i felt like i was just going to do it and try to get it over with because im also getting married in a month. on the 75th question i closed my eyes and prayed that it would stop after 75 and it did. i did the pvt for the past 3 tests and im trying to hold of not to do it this one but its so hard!!! i almost feel like i passed but i dont want to feel like that because im scared if i do feel that way then i for sure failed!!! so i dont know if i should try pvt to get my mind off of it and find out if i passed or not!! or if i should wait the 2 days. in some way i feel like if i try it since i failed the previous 3 times and thats how i found out that it will jinx me. i know it sounds ridiculous!!! any opinions???? thanks! also i would like to say that i have never posted on this site but reading through peoples post have inspired me to join this website and believe in prayer for the nclex because thats all ive been doing!!!
  12. so i was browsing through the threads and seen that you have a lacharity that is online? what is it exactly? im only familiar with the PDA book and i have been looking around to see if lacharity did make something online like a cd or anything cause i would much rather do that then read it from a book.. if you still reply on here can you email it to me? [email protected]. thanks!!
