  1. 2nd Bachelor BSN-- UDM vs. EMU?

There are two sets of pre-reqs and the second group you take and complete after you are accepted. The plus of OU is that it is 12 months, they have a holistic approach to application process and it's a great school!
  2. Oakland University ABSN Program

No I'm taking it this fall along with informatics. From what I've read on this board on Facebook, past program students recommend taking it right before you start so it is fresh.
  3. Oakland University ABSN Program

Yup taking both. Do you start the ABSN program in January? If so, we have a Facebook page.
  4. Oakland University Nursing Second Degree

I can only speak from my experience. I earned my previous two degrees at Oakland. I had to take a couple of the pre-reqs (the other classes were I took with my first degree 20 years ago) and got A's. My background is in teaching high school scienc...
  5. Teacher turned Nurse

Sorry Nurse Marion, but your idea of how teaching is and teachers are is not accurate. We are certainly not pampered by admin and the union is not as powerful as you would think. We too work weekends, holidays, nights with very little lunch or no l...
  6. Hi All- I thought I would start this thread for those interviewing in the next couple of weeks for the Winter 2013 Cohort. I'm excited and nervous. My family needs this - my kids are excited mom is going back to school but would love to see mom as ...
  7. I can't put the link but if you search Oakland University and Winter 2013 you should find it. Congrats!!
  8. Henry Ford Main Vs. Beaumont Royal Oak

I don't have experience as a nurse yet - just starting school in January, but I wanted to say congrats! And it is good to see a new grad getting offers from those hospitals.
  9. Thanks Dianah - I've been lurking long enough to know. That's why I didn't post it. :) LOVE ALLNURSES!
  10. Congrats! I set up a Facebook page, FYI
  11. I got in!!!! My letter came today. I still can't believe it! I took the online patho class with neither of those instructors (I saw your post before they deleted the names). It is powerpoints and weekly timed open book quizzes. If you are quick...
  12. I'm taking patho now and will wait until the semester before I start to take pharm. Informatics is the new class and it's half a semester. I'll probably take that whenever I need a class to fill my schedule.
  13. FYI The committee is meeting tomorrow (3/22). Decisions will be made by Monday and letters should go out at the end of next week or the following Monday.
  14. Anything? Anyone? Bueller? I'm not too hopeful. All but one of my pre-reqs were from my grades earned 20 years ago when I first earned my bio degree. I want to register to retake a couple, if I can this fall.
  15. Nothing yet - it's killing me!
  16. Oakland University ABSN Program

I don't think we will find out until April.
  17. Venting/Job Market

Sounds like you might be from Michigan - I'm a certified teacher, with a Masters, 10 years experience and was layed off at the end of last year. So between teaching and nursing, finding a teaching job is a lot tougher here. And because we are union...
  18. Oakland University ABSN Program

Got the email to schedule an interview today for the Winter 2013 cohort. I sent in my preferences but haven't received confirmation yet. Anyone else?
  19. Oakland University ABSN Program

Hi there- I also completed my pre-reqs last semester and am waiting to get the call for interviews (expect that in March). I'm currently taking the patho class and dev psych.
  20. I will be finishing my pre-req to apply after this semester. I would love to start in May. But does anyone know if they fill up the session well before this? I saw people posting who were interviewed in July that will start in May 2012. I was tol...
  21. I will be taking the anatomy/phys class at OU along with the Philosophy pre-req and the Psychology class. I plan to take the 3 nursing classes in the winter. Thanks for the info. Lori
