  1. There are two sets of pre-reqs and the second group you take and complete after you are accepted. The plus of OU is that it is 12 months, they have a holistic approach to application process and it's a great school!
  2. No I'm taking it this fall along with informatics. From what I've read on this board on Facebook, past program students recommend taking it right before you start so it is fresh.
  3. Yup taking both. Do you start the ABSN program in January? If so, we have a Facebook page.
  4. I can only speak from my experience. I earned my previous two degrees at Oakland. I had to take a couple of the pre-reqs (the other classes were I took with my first degree 20 years ago) and got A's. My background is in teaching high school science and I got in on my first application. I think they are holistic in their acceptance - looking at all factors. Interviews are short because they have so many people they interview. Know what you want to do and why and be able to express this in your essay and your interview. Good Luck!
  5. I can't put the link but if you search Oakland University and Winter 2013 you should find it. Congrats!!
  6. I don't have experience as a nurse yet - just starting school in January, but I wanted to say congrats! And it is good to see a new grad getting offers from those hospitals.
  7. Thanks Dianah - I've been lurking long enough to know. That's why I didn't post it. :) LOVE ALLNURSES!
  8. Congrats! I set up a Facebook page, FYI
  9. I got in!!!! My letter came today. I still can't believe it! I took the online patho class with neither of those instructors (I saw your post before they deleted the names). It is powerpoints and weekly timed open book quizzes. If you are quick at reading and looking up information, you will do well. Now that I know I will start in January 2013, I will take Pharm in the fall 2012 with Informatics.
  10. I'm taking patho now and will wait until the semester before I start to take pharm. Informatics is the new class and it's half a semester. I'll probably take that whenever I need a class to fill my schedule.
  11. FYI The committee is meeting tomorrow (3/22). Decisions will be made by Monday and letters should go out at the end of next week or the following Monday.
  12. Anything? Anyone? Bueller? I'm not too hopeful. All but one of my pre-reqs were from my grades earned 20 years ago when I first earned my bio degree. I want to register to retake a couple, if I can this fall.
  13. Nothing yet - it's killing me!
  14. I don't think we will find out until April.
  15. Sounds like you might be from Michigan - I'm a certified teacher, with a Masters, 10 years experience and was layed off at the end of last year. So between teaching and nursing, finding a teaching job is a lot tougher here. And because we are union, I'm more expensive than the thousands of new grads, hence no current teaching job. I say, go back to school. Conisider this "time off" an opportunity. That's what made me realize to change my mindset. I was raised get a job, stay at it forever, retire. My lay off force me to look at what other options I had and with some commitment on my families part, I'm back at school. So good luck to you, go back to school
