I'm sorry you feel that way. But these things are what I often see when nurses that are way too new in nursing jump into a field they are too inexperienced to deal with. Save yourself because the hospital will not save you. Do not beat yourself up.

I have credible decades years of experiences in critical care areas. Many different hospitals. I have worked out of my state in union hospitals. Absolutely NO comparison!

I wish I had the choice to go union. I live in a Right to Work state. They only unions happen to be those that work in grocery stores, larger chain and some of the specialty trades. Every hospital in the state FIGHT against unions. In fact the reason you see less unions? Because we are turning into a country where politics is pushing the Right to Work nonsense! You basically have no rights. Sure some are on the books. But talk to any lawyer in my state. It is one long hard battle to win against the hospitals here. If that were my union? I would be vocal at the meetings. We try to be vocal at our hospital Town Halls here? We actually get escorted out by security!

A fetus at many early stages is also unable to live outside the woman's body unless there is intensive medical intervention.

Just because I might have never obtained an abortion, I have no right to speak or decide for another woman. That is a very private decision between the woman and her doctor. Unless I have walked in her shoes? I don't know what is really going on in her life.

Exactly how it works. When I did a lot of per diem it would tie up my days and it was unknown until the morning of if I got called in. I was just referring to the poster claiming there were NO BENEFITS, there are some. I think I did rack up some pretty significant amounts of $$$ in my 401K with the hospital adding in their portion to it when I was just per diem. That was pretty nice! Families going on vacations to the Water Park or Disney really like the benefit discounts they get also. Plus someone claimed they are not covered if they got hurt at work. That is wrong, they have to have Workers Comp.

Talk to me about my experience not being relative to the conversation, when you have my wide variety of experience and the YEARS I have in it! You are no where near what I have. Try: all ICU's, ER's, including Trauma ER's, Trauma ICU's, SWAT RN, PACU, Pre-Op, Neuro ICU's, Open Heart First Receiver ICU, Neonatal ICU, Ped's ICU, Psych, Detox, you name it NG, I have done it. House Sup, Dept. Manager, While doing all of that I have also taught every level of nursing at the college level. You want to talk down to me NG? Insulting is what you are.

I've worked plenty of Per Diem jobs before. The Per Diem positions at my hospital now DO require all staff work a minimum of shifts per month/week. Otherwise why would they keep their position for you? They do have some benefits too. All have to be covered by Workman's Comp. Cafeteria discount, the gift shop discount, the other discounts such as movie tickets at a reduced price, belonging to our Credit Union, having a 401K and other benefits. What they DON'T get is the medical and dental benefits and PTO hours.

If injured at work then Workers Comp would kick in to cover you. Workers Comp has to cover all employees whether they are FT, PT or even Per Diem without regular benefits.

Well like I stated in another post, I've been an RN for over 40 years. I've worked every single specialty, except Labor and Delivery. The thing is people that claim it takes too long, must be doing it wrong. It takes MERE MINUTES! I teach my students how to do one and by the end of the semester they get it done like it is second nature. Priorities? Ok, then a rapid is a priority. I like to PREVENT the rapid or codes. But that is just me.
