Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program
I do NOT recommend this program. I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Ohio University. I had a great experience there. Then, I applied to their RN-to-BSN program and the whole process has been an absolute joke. Three times now, they have told me they have everything they need and have given me a start date. Then, a month later (three times), they've sent me an E-MAIL telling me they need more things from me, and that my start date has been pushed back. One time, they told me they needed my OU transcripts! Why would I have OU send my transcripts to OU? That issue got me pushed back 2 months. After it, they promised me I'd be starting in October. Just this morning, I get yet another e-mail (never a phone call) telling me that I can't participate in the program because my employer is not one of their partners, so I need to start the application process over using a different form. This was never mentioned to me before, and I submitted the application 4 months ago. I am so upset with them, and I'm about to ask for my application fee back.

RN offered STNA job
Thanks for your comments! I actually just got a job as an RN at a nursing home. I will be starting soon! I knew that if I kept trying, I'd be able to find a job. I was applying for positions every day. It's not in a hospital, which was my first choice, but I'm very happy that I can start my career as an RN.

Could use some advice or a listening ear...new RN, newly abusive husband
I am SO sorry to hear about your situation. You need to do what you would tell your patient to do. Get OUT of that relationship, NOW. You seem afraid of the unexpected, but you can't be worse off than you are now. Get out of your relationship, and then use the resources that are available to you. Furthermore, and I hate to say this, when you find a job somewhere else, don't say a WORD about your personal life. They will act like they care, but in the end, they are more concerned about how it affects them. Nurses are easily replaced. You may be unemployed, but you have your education and your license. I'm sure you have family and friends who care. Collect unemployment and look for a new job. Rely on the resources available to you. Best of luck. I'm praying for you.

RN offered STNA job
The most frustrating thing happened to me today! After two months of trying to get a job exclusively within a hospital setting, I decided to branch out and start looking at home care and nursing homes. I was so excited to get a call back from a home care agency the same day I submitted my application...until she said, "We can't hire you as an RN without any experience, but we'll hire you as an STNA." SERIOUSLY? I can see continuing to work as an STNA until an RN position opens up for you...but to apply for a job as an RN and get offered an STNA job?
