  1. Ms.Kay, how far along are you in the program if you don't mind answering? I applied to UAB for their FNP program and got in which I was extremely grateful for. They were my number one choice and their reputation proceeds itself. I'm part of the cohort that will be starting this May. I attended their Feb orientation and I was really impressed with the staff. It does seem like a tough program from the information they gave us but they made it clear that each applicant goes under a rigorous review before the right one is selected. Basically, if you have been offered a spot they feel like you will be able to handle the program. They have a 98-99% passing rate on the board. One of the instructors mentioned that a common complaint they get from students is the amount of reading. She states they cannot lecture on EVERYTHING you are suppose to know but they do try to apply that knowledge in various ways such as case studies, video conferencing, etc. The impression I got was that the instructors are very much involved. They have some online lectures posted, they do weekly video conferences to discuss the topic for that week, etc. If you are not able to attend the live session then it is archived to view for later. Are these resources not part of your class? I don't do well with group assignments because there is always one person that doesn't do their part and that could get frustrating for me also. I guess I will find out more about that once I start in May. Also, this program is ONLY part time. 2 classes a semester is considered part time study. There is no full time option available and like you mentioned you have to stick to the program of study. If you fail a class or if you have to skip a semester then it sets you behind because not all classes are offered every semester. I know they've already started implementing some new changes. For example, all of our exams will now be proctored. Do you plan on transferring somewhere else or staying with UAB? Hope to hear from you soon. I'm very excited to start the program and I just wanted some input from someone already going through the program.
  2. I'm in the process of doing my medical clearance and no email yet about drug screen. I was going over the schedule for orientation though and it said registration so I'm assuming we can register then?
  3. I'm not a former student and I live in Alabama. I just moved here a year ago though. All my previous schooling was done in Florida.
  4. Sweeteen21- nothing yet! I'm sure we'll hear something this month. Are you going to be in the FNP program?
  5. Dimples: I'm soo sorry! I hope something works out for you! Hammstac: it means you're in!! Do they have the right address for you when you log onto blazernet? If so, I would just give CB a call bc you should have gotten something by now. Someone had mentioned earlier that if you don't hear something you can call her
  6. Thanks FA2NS! I faxed all my papers and called to double check that they've gotten everything. They said it was okay about the advisors signature.
  7. FA2NS: Let me know what the school says. I don't think you have to get it notarized, it didn't mention anything like that in the directions.
  8. TheMolly: I wouldn't lose hope! I think they would prefer someone with more experience because you have a greater knowledge base! FA2NS: are you confused about some of the forms you have to fill out by the 20th? The FERPA form requires a witness, does it have to be faculty? And the program of study sheet requires a signature of our advisor.
  9. TheMolly: I was able to log in a few hours after I registered my blazernet ID and while I was relieved I also had doubts like what if I was wait listed. I just wanted a letter to confirm it. I had called one stop IT to find out what one of my holds meant earlier in the week and they said I was admitted dec 5th which is what my holds are dated as. I hope you hear some good news soon! You were able to create an ID so I would take that as a positive sign! FA2NS: let me know when you create one!
  10. Congrats!!! So excited to be classmates with you!
  11. nontradbsn: congrats!! Which orientation session are you attending? Also, I was wondering if the orientation sessions are the same for all of us? Or will they split us up one of the day according to our concentrations?
  12. FA2NS- I'm sure you'll get some good news tomorrow! FYI: The directions to creating a blazernet ID in the packet are no different from the ones stated online. There is no specific requirement for the ID so that's good! We can all use what we created! When I had called office of student affairs, they said the letters were mailed out on wednesday so I hope everyone hears something soon!! CLPrater-What orientation session are you going to? Most likely I'll be going feb 6th/7th
  13. I got my acceptance letter for FNP!! Ahhhh!
  14. No mail today and I'm an hour away from Birmingham :/
  15. For all those of you that were admitted, can you explain to me one of the holds? On my profile, I see a hold for drug screen/background check, medical clearance and there's another one for "needs updated pos." What does that mean?
