  1. For my classes I read what we are going over in the textbook, read the corresponding topics in the Saunders nclex book, and then once I feel I know the information I see how well I know it by answering practice questions. If you don't understand why you are getting the wrong answers read the rationales and with enough practice they will teach you how to think like a nurse without you even realizing it.
  2. The test was pretty much straight from the book, I Found the book to be very helpful in preparing me for the test. Goodluck and keep us posted!
  3. I start in Nov, I just moved into my place today, it's only a mile from the school. How do you like Galen?
  4. Kelaobie, How is the progra for you so far? How is the computer class? I will only need the computer class and I think it was intro to nursing the first semester since I have some transfer credits. I'm hoping to be able to take micro as well. What do you think of Galen so far? m
  5. Nurse Aeja, How do you like Galen so far? I am starting in November
  6. mma, I got your email, but haven't posted enough yet so I do not have private messaging and couldn't email you back. I am moving down next week though to start in November..you saw the school today?? What did you think, and when do you think you'll start?
  7. Hi Everyone! I will be starting the RN program in November, I am moving from NJ! I am moving down there Oct 1
  8. Brazillian, I may be able to answer some of your questions I just got accepted into the November RN program so I know where you are. The program is 24 months and it's rolling admissions to get into the program (first come first serve) the committee meets every Thurs to review applications and they've had 2 meetings to let people in for Nov program. The entrance exam is the NLN PAX..it's verbal, math, and science, you need to score at least a 96 out of I wanna say 200. The program is 108 credits and it's 275 a credit, but if you have some pre reqs done and they transfer in it's obvi gonna be cheaper. They also have you meet with someone from financial aide as soon as your excepted. Hope I was able to help! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.
  9. MMa I got my call today that i'm in! Are you gonna start in Nov?
  10. Stephanie, I am starting Galen RN program in November, how has the program been for you?
  11. First, welcome to nursing school lol..I should be starting Nov 7, but from working as a cna I have been told by the nurses that you have to eat, sleep, and breathe nursing school for 2 years so this is something I am completely prepared for. I'm also told that depending on the person you should work no more than 16 hours a week, but some people work full time and stilll do good. Also, Why does it take you three hours to get to school? Is there anway you could cut down your hours at work or move closer to school, you probally wouldn't feel so overwhelmed.
  12. My composite was 117..the place I found was isles of gateway but there's a million places within 2 miles from the school..im gonna do the new rn program..since most of my pre reqs are doing I can put all of my energy into the nursing classes..thursday is gonna seem like forever!!! As soon as I find out I'm in ill be moving there within 2 weeks..I have a lot of family Down there so now that I picked a place to live they can finalize everything for me...can't wait though! Maybe well be in class together!
  13. I found an amazing apartment complex around the corner it's 1.8 miles away. 1 bedrooms start @ 700 and they're beautiful. My transcripts just reached Galen today and the committee meets every Thursday so my admission rep called me and told me i'll know by next Thursday next time the committee meets. I'll be very anxious till Thursday to say the least! When will you know if your in for November? I'll let you know as soon as I hear something! If you don't mind me asking what was your composite score for the NLN?
  14. Hey mma! I absolutely loved it! I should know by Thursday if I've been accepted. The facility was beautiful. They had a sim manikan that you can start IV's on. It blinks, has a heart rate, talks, and can crash just like a real person! So cool! When do you wanna start your program? Have you made plans to come down at all?
  15. goodluck! :loveya::loveya:
  16. Maybe try a nursing home? I work as a CNA in NJ..and they're hiring RN's...look at the bright side at least you got your RN!! I'm starting school in Nov..I still have 2 years
  17. I know it's crazy! I completed all of my pre reqs and attended orientation and the expected start date was 2015! The other school I was looking at was a year and a half wait! Don't get me wrong I'd love to get my education in Jersey, but I just can't wait that long, I wanna be working by then. I fly down the 15 and take my test the 16, I bought a review book that i've been looking at and a lots coming back to me in the math section, definetley glad I bought the book.
  18. Hi Everyone! I've been reading all of your posts about Galen, finally something on here about Galen Tampa campus! I currently live in NJ, but will be flying down on the 15th to take my PAX, get my tour, and my interview for the 2 year RN program. I have almost all of my pre reqs other than micro and I am currently a CNA. I'm nervous, but optimistic! The school I am in right now gave me an expected start date of 2015..yeah right! I am looking to start Galen in November.
  19. Hey mengil, I am currently a NJ resident, but flying to FL in 2 weeks to check out schools. The wait lists up here are 2-5 years! I am looking at Galen, but am reading some horrible reviews about them, I stumbled upon ITT (but i'd be at the Tampa location) If you have any advice for me please let me know, if I see anything on ITT in Lake Mary I will post them on here.
  20. Hi Everyone! I am new to this site and just had a few questions that some of you in the area may be able to answer. I currently go to Brookdale where I will be finished with A&P II August 10. I am starting at OCC in the fall and will be taking microbiology. Once My A&PII is completed I will get my date of completetion from OCC (hopefully around Sept) I have taken my TEAS and have done everything else the school has asked, the only thing left is for me to take my micro which like I just said I will be doing in the Fall, after that the waiting game begins. Anybody get in the program in less than a year? I know starting in the Spring is a joke, but possibly Fall of 2012? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
