I am a nursing student without any RN experience, however I have been in the medical field for 6yrs (MA). I have seen this type of behavior before from "seasoned professionals" and I can not stand it. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do but do not let her make you feel as if you are her inferior (as this is her goal). You are a human being and you deserve to be treated as one. We all have to begin somewhere even though some of us learn faster than others. It seems as if there is some kind of alliance going on there and maybe you are not missing out on anything (IMO), I mean who wants to befriend someone who gets off on putting others down/making their lives miserable versus helping them? As nurses our goal is to "help" in anyway possible, if it is something as simple as picking something up off the floor for a patient or orienting a new nurse. Whatever you decide, hold your head high and set the new standard because it seems that there are a lot of passiveness going on from your coworkers and I applaud you for making a difference. We all know if there is a problem and you do nothing about it other than watch, you are the problem as well. I wish you the best and I will keep you and your situation in my prayers! :-)

Hi Jenni! I am a nursing student (1yr left), I was wondering how HARD was it for u ans ur classmates to get jive (is ev1 working now)? What was starting salary/ies? Whats ur location? I hope I am not asking to many personal ques.

Shannalim, I was reading your earlier post and I could feel your energy/anxiety. I could also see you utilized many sources to prepare you for the test. I am so sorry to hear about your outcome. I am a nursing student (ADN) I wont grad until Nov/12 next year. What do you think was the hardest part? What areas do you plan on studying next? Do you have any advice for me? How soon can you retake the test? I wish you the best, just keep at it (I know I would) and your hard work will soon pay off :-)

Hope this helps....... I found out via the telephone also. I was told I would receive a letter as well, although I never did. However I am still VERY thankful for being accepted. But I understand it is soothing to have the documentation in hand!

Oh, Phrozenone I have a friend that was also accepted into the PN program that begins this month. She is also shooting for the ADN program that begins in November (she hasn't ruled it out yet. There are so many missed messages about if it has openings or not. I saw people interviewing for a spot today, so that only leads me to believe that there MUST be atleast ONE opening..., either way GOODLUCK!!!!!

Lol, I wear my glasses sometimes, if we are facing the instructor I sat at the first table on the right in the first chair. Currently I work at the medical cntr on the westend, I have been there the last 4yrs as a certified medical assistant but I have a total of almost 6yrs experience. As far as suggestions to enter the field...... Volunteer, Volunteer, Volunteer if at all possible just to get your foot in the door. I just left the school today making sure everything is in order for next week. So excited! Also I saw people interviewing today for the adn pgm in November!

shemekaj thanks for responding, i only had to take college success the first quarter (i sat on the front row) which ended july 11th (so i have been idle since then, eagerly waiting to start back up). next quarter i will have pharmacology (so i guess i will see you there) and anat2 only. yes managing our work schedule can be a challange, luckily for me the medical cnter where i work have adjusted my hours to accomodate my school schedule (shift change, with the opportunity of ot if/when i leave school early since i have no classes after 12pm). things couldn't be any better for me at this time. since i have been out though i have "heard" so many different things about the program at bauder..... sorta puzzling. anyhow i look forward to working with you!

If so we must be in there together or are u in the upcoming program???????? Either way, I look forward to seeing you August 24th, I love this website, we get the opportunity to support one another as well as keep each other informed. Also if you are in the program that started in June, how did the first quarter end for you? Has there been any changes or updates? Okay im gonna keep it short bc i am sitting n my car on my cell and I had all this info jotted in then my phone completly erased it...grrr! Again, I am currently n the adn pgm at bauder that started in june, so far so good. If u already have prereqs and they are not over 5yrs old then they could possibly transfer. I had a lot of classes to transfer so I was able to save a lot of money. From what I hear from new applicants the process/requirements have changed post the first class. I surmise that is due to the fact its a new pgm that is still being tweeked????...... Anyhow I know several lpns that are/have applied to the future pgm and have not mentioned to me that the pgm is full. Since the lpns dont have to take the first two test their process is swifter....... Let me know how it goes, wasnt aware all for this yr were already filled. Goodluck ev1

Goodluck on monday phrozenone! Im actually a bauder nursing student and I agree the process is very overwhelming but I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it is a "NEW" program. Give them another chance hopefull if ur able to. It took a lot of patience on my part but so far so good. Best wishes to everyone. Keep me posted!

NO, NO, NO, PLEASE do not quit. First and foremost while reading your post it instantly brought memories from my current job. Right now I work as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) (6yrs) however, I am also an ADN student. On the job we are constantly given MA Students (MAS) whom I feel are mistreated. We have so many people there that are comfortable in their positions (LPN/NCMA/RMA) and get humor out of humiliating new comers. Personally I am constantly saying to everyone, "Remember you were new once". I try to take them all under my wing (unfortunately I can only have so many) and I open the door for questions and/or any insecurities, I reintroduce them to how everything works, I know while in school they were exposed to the majority of all nursing components however ever facillity may differ in how they go about doing the same thing. Basically I reiterate to them "this is how it is done here". I always try to make the new person comfortable, wereas others (I have witnessed) brush them off or send them to do things that may keep them busy and out of their way such as cleaning rooms. Often when the new employee's or students begin whether they are LPNs or MAS they gravitate towards me. For a while it caused hostillity between the nurses and myself because supposedly "I hog all the newbies) Anyhow I want you to know that the feeling you have is understandable however, don't let the nurses get the best of you/run you off. Once I began ADN school I was told they treat new nurses like crap, either way I am still determined. Although I have experience as a medical assistant and I have worked in many medical settings, I will still be considered a NEW nurse and I must get acclamated to the way things are run. I know once I begin my clinicals or first job there will be those types of people there, But I plan on rolling with the punches and sticking it out. Once YOU become acclamated in what you do (trust me you will) just make sure you don't let the cycle repeat itself. I wish you the best and I will root for you and hope to hear from you soon! :)
