  1. I work in a Jewish home and I am Catholic. I do not understand their ways. Meat and dairy can not be served at the same meal and the list goes on and on. I may not understand or agree but I respect their values. Respect. It is key.
  2. I have been literally and figuratively Nurse Jackie. It took me years to watch the show but when i did I was hooked. The ending still haunts me. I strive now to be Zoey.
  3. My place I work is also understaffed. It sucks! Deligation helps some and time management but it is dangerous. I wish the higher ups got how dangerous it is and looked at that instead of the money.
  4. Hang in there, do whatever they say, go to meetings, talk about it at meetings and wait. Life can and will get better if you do the right thing.
  5. This site will not let me private message you back. If you still need my help, email me. I have lived thru hell and have come back out the other side. [email protected] ChristiRN
  6. RegretfulLPN this site will not let me private message you because I have not been on the site in a long time. Email me to [email protected]. This was several years ago and YES I WORK AS A RN NOW. So haters, I fought and overcame.
  7. I posted most of my story above but my question is why for the rest of your life are you going to have to tell an employer that you diverted and that you were on probation?? At some point, your license will stop saying that you are on probation if you complete the states program right?? (that is the way it is in PA) so when that happens and you go for a new job...why be that honest when you dont have to be. We are looked at differently, us addicts I mean. So whenever it is over...you dont need to be that forthcoming because the record will be sealed. That is to say that you are still recovered and clean!!! You can do this. It has taken me 3 yrs since I worked last and countless applications to every place I could think of and FINALLY I got a job..a rehab facility is giving me a chance..so there is hope when you think there isnt any hope left. Someday i want to be a source of hope for people that have given up because I was about to give up and now I have a part time job until my narc restriction is gone!!! When I am expunged AND when I have completed the state program I will know that BUT I will not tell a new employer...
  8. I am not on the OIG exclusion list (that would be worse I guess) but nursing homes in general, at least in western PA, wont hire nurses with a record (I am sure there are exceptions to this when a facility is desperate and overlooks). Also I think it depends on how recent it is too on getting a job.
  9. I understand your pain. I am going thru it too. I live in PA and have what is called probation without verdict (only good thing is that it will be expunged in 2012) and I received this from diverting from work in 2007. Having a criminal record is hard because no one wants to hire us "bad seeds" (at least that is how employers seem to look at it.) There is something that anyone with felonies can not work in nursing homes...it has something to do with medicare. Good luck and I hope you do better than I have...lol..cause I cant find a job anywhere, doing anything...sucks to be us...lol..I do have my license but it is doing me no good.
  10. I only wish I could get a job in dialysis. I also am in the VRP (actually now in the DMU because of my legal issues) and have been for 2 yrs and 8 months (and because of the VRP's error, I have 2 years and 8 more months to go) BUT the place I worked decided to hit me hard criminally and I have something called probation without verdict and will be expunged in 2012..if only I could make $30 an hour...So far the only job that looks promising for me is a $11 an hour job part time in a drs office and hour away. Please, count yourself lucky for your $30 an hour job. I too cant pay my bills because NO ONE will hire me and they just took my food stamps because you cant be on food stamps if you are not working...go figure. Good luck..you should have your restrictions taken back by now (narc restriction, etc)...so you have choices. Good luck...
  11. In 2007 I diverted from work and denied it at the time. They made me the example and charged me with 75 felony charges. In the end, I ended up taking a deal called probation without verdict which means mine will be expunged in 2012 (gone not found unless on a federal background check by the government)...BUT in the mean time no where will hire me with a criminal record. I have gotten close but nothing. I do have my nursing license now...but I do not know about your state but you may be turned into your states nursing recovery program (In PA it is called Voluntary REcovery Program). Here in PA we have 1...but if you dont come clean to them and jump thru every hoop they tell you...you WILL LOSE YOUR LICENSE. Its a pain but I diverted and I have to pay the price. Dialysis and nursing homes are an option if you are ONLY on probation...but with a criminal record you will be lucky to get those jobs...I am sorry to have to tell you this...it has been my nightmare that I have lived thru for the past several years. It sucks...but there are a lot of us out there...many many more than anyone knows. Nursing on drugs can be as high as 30%...YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I thought I was the only fool in the beginning of this nightmare...I thought I was alone..but we are not. I have been in the Voluntary Recovery Program for 2 yrs and 8 months and because of an error on their part, I will be in the program for another 2 yrs and 7 months (it is supposed to be a 3 yr program...except in my case...lol) You are in for a bumpy ride my friend and I hope it goes better for you than it did for me.
  12. I would also love to reply to finallyfound10 but the site will not let me private message you back.
  13. I went to my lawyer the other day to have him explain probation without verdict. I have not been convicted on any criminal violations. He wrote me a letter to help with the job search and in it it states "People who receive probation without verdict are not adjudicated guilty. Rather, they are placed on a period of probation" So, in actuality, I do not have 5 felonies and 6 misdemeanors..I have probation. Hard to get employers to see the difference...impossible I think. It is similar to ARD programs.
  14. I need help. A few years ago, I received probation without verdict in the state of PA for diversion from work. I enrolled into the VRP and have been in it for 2 1/2 yrs. I have done everything they have asked me to do and more. I cant find a job. Eventhough I was told probation without verdict is different and it will be expunged in Sept 2012 (ug) no one will hire me. I go on endless interviews and everytime between my resume (which is great..20 yrs of wonderful experience) and my bsn (I had a 4.0 when i went back to get my BSN) I get the job but when they do the background check and find probation without verdict with 5 felonys they never call back. I am a great nurse. I just need the chance to show that. I am desperate and dont know where to turn...I am the sole support of 2 teenagers and cant find a job to support them. I have full support from PNAP and they want to give me a great reference, but no one will give me a chance. I have over 2 1/2 years documented clean..I really have more than that..but that is documented thru the vrp. I just dont know where to look for a job. Please help me because my children need me to work...and I need me to work...I live outside of Pittsburgh, Pa...please please help me.
