  1. I need some advice from some experienced RN's that is familiar with the Houston Tx hospitals. I am a RN with one year of experience, but not in a hospital setting. Skilled nursing and hospice has been my recent experience. Im seeking hospital experience to widen my knowledge and skills. I have a job offer at St. Joseph Medical Center (med surg unit) and Memorial Hermann in the Med. Center (neuro acute unit) Im not sure which one would be the best decision. Pay is not a factor, im just trying to gain experience at this point. I am aware that St. Joseph is an older hospital, whereas Memorial Hermann is a top hospital and very well advanced in just about everything. Ive heard many stories about top hospitals in the med center where doctors and nurses have a very callous persona and extremely patronizing. I would appreciate the advice, this will truly help me and others as well.
  2. Hi, I just graduated from a LVN program in Houston Tx and will be taking my Nclex in three weeks. I am looking in the Houston area to possibly find a company that will hire me before I get my license. Does anybody know of any jobs that will hire me before I actually took Nclex.
  3. Hi, sorry for the late reply. Did you guys get acceptance letters yet?
  4. Hi, I just got accepted into the LVN program at San Jac North campus 2012 summer session, and I need some advice. I am nervous because of all the horror stories you hear about nursing programs. Any advice to me from anyone that has been where Im headed? I just need a feeling of ease.
  5. Hi! I am in the process of applying to the LVN and RN nursing programs at Lonestar...(Cy-fair, North Harris, Kingwood) if anyone has been recently accepted or just know by any chance on average what are the hours and days for class? I am trying to set up babysitting arrangements due to me having a small baby and single parent. I know these days and hours may change throughout programs but if anyone knows roughly it would be a great help.
  6. okay...thank you very much
  7. Honestly I think the majority of the nursing programs has some sort of negative impression. I guess u just got to try & hang in there & make the best of it. Each person will always have their opinion on the schools they've attended whether its positive or negative.
  8. Thank you very much that was great information and it makes perfect since. I got denied once but Im still trying! And congrats on your LVN program! Good luck to you.
  9. Okay...will do. Thanks for the help. Would you know by any chance what Lonestar's cut-off is as far as points go? Im estimating my points and I may only have 11. I know that 12 is the total possible points.
  10. Thank you very much. I appreciate it
