I took my OCN test today and passed. I found that the questions in that book were not like the questions on the test, but the information was good. I did not go through many of them, though. I personally didn't do any review courses, but I have heard good things about them.
  2. Does her oncologist's office do chemo infusions? If so, they likely have the hood there. Can their pharmacy crush the pills?
  3. Thank you!
  4. Are any of the hospitals in the Kansas City area hiring new grad ADNs?
  5. I took all of my pre-reqs online and got into TCC's program. They don't take that into consideration at all.
  6. Hill2010, the HESI really isn't bad. If you have not yet looked over the review book, I would suggest that. Try not to stress out too much. You have a 4.0, so you are definitely capable of acing this test. I'm sure you'll do great.
  7. Anyone know when summer schedule comes out?
  8. I'm happy enough with mine.
  9. I'm scheduled for 8am! So excited!
  10. That should be it. Schedule, fee statement, license.
  11. I have a question about the HESI Case Studies thing. Is that an actual book or an online access thing? I seemed to remember that it was one of those online things we were going to sign up for at school and they said we could pay for it at that time if we wanted. Is that right?
  12. I got registered on the phone too! Have been stressing about that all day up here at work until I decided to see if you guys had posted anything about it. Thanks!
  13. kmart - Yes. I've been told by new grad/new hires that they seem to hire pretty equally from all of the schools around here, whether they are ADN or BSN programs. I work with several people that were hired straight out of TCC as new grads.
  14. No txhusker. I think that's it. Moving is such a pain!
  15. I took A&P 1 and chem together and A&P 2 and micro together. I made A's in all of them, so it is doable. Whether or not I'd recommend it depends on the person. The amount of competition is crazy, so you really have to aim for A's in your sciences. I would do it that way again if I had the choice to make all over again, but I won't deny that I was really stressed sometimes. You know how much you can handle! :) Just don't bite off more than you can chew! Good luck! I'm sure you guys will do great.
  16. I have heard that about magnet hospitals also. I work for a magnet hospital though, and they hire a lot of ADNs. I have noticed that their job postings say bsn preferred. Also I think that if you sign into one of their new grad residency programs you have to sign an agreement saying you will get your bsn within a certain amount of time. However Baylor hospitals in fort worth are not magnet facilities. Maybe they are trying to be.
  17. So... someone told me today that Baylor is going to stop accepting students from our school for clinicals and will also stop hiring ADNs. Anyone else heard that?
  18. I'm so happy for you ajk! Congrats! Since you missed orientation, I'm sure we can help answer any questions that you may have.
  19. My theory is 50608 and skills is 50607. Anyone have a class with me?
  20. jefe - According to the students that come to my floor for their clinicals, you pick a patient before each clinical, because they may not be there the next week you come. Just be sure to ask the nurse if they are going to be discharged by the next day, so you don't do all the work of preparing for that patient and then come in to find they are gone.
  21. Glad to meet everyone also. I like my schedule. Theory: tues 8-12 Skills: tues 1-4 Clinicals: sat 6:30-6:30
  22. Anyone else ridiculously excited about orientation? :)
  23. Congrats Nancy and manow!! So happy for you! Are you going to meet with us before orientation?
  24. Happy thanksgiving!
  25. I will be there as well. Excited to meet all of you!
