Charity SON Fall 2012
I'm looking for pointers myself. LOL. I have never taken A&P at Delgado before but so far it seems like you have to devote more time to the online class than an on-campus class. I would recommend using flash cards and reviewing your notes daily. For me A&P is basically a LOT of memorization so you have to do what works for you. You definitely don't want to get behind because we go through way too much material. I am doing something with A&P each day. Whether it be homework, watching the online lectures, or just reviewing my notes. HTH!

Charity SON Fall 2012
@NolaRN2B Are you taking A&P I or II? I am taking A&P II. I take the lab on Tuesday nights. I would definitely like to do a study group for all of the tests. I am hoping to get an A also!

Hesi A2 Test Prep :Chemistry and Biology
Yes, that's it... I think the biology section is way better in this one.

Charity SON Fall 2012
@Ashley2000 Since you are taking the test tomorrow I would pretty much say if you don't know it by now, you probably won't know it by tomorrow. I would just make sure that I was familiar with the Biology/A&P sections of the McGraw Hill and Evolve study guides. Google "HESI A2" vocabulary and you should be able to find some quizzlets with practice questions. At this point I would just do practice tests and make sure to get some sleep tonight. And definitely eat breakfast in the A.M. @PHI823 Thanks! I think many people do actually fail or barely pass. The only way I can imagine that happening is if maybe you hadn't finished your science courses before taking the exam. There are so many sections on the exam that I can't imagine a person struggling with all of them. Seems like if the Biology brings your score down, then maybe you would do well on the Grammar, or Vocabulary, or Math to bring your grade back up. Especially since Charity only cares about the cummulative score. But, maybe some people struggle with all of the sections.

Charity SON Fall 2012
Congrats on the HESI and that profile score! You shouldn't have any trouble getting in with a 75. I too was surprised by my score on the HESI. I was so afraid that it was going to be this killer test! I actually ended up with a 92.3% overall. I got an 820 on the Critical Thinking part. Are you planning to apply to any other schools? I am thinking about the LSU CARE program but my first choice is Charity. Good Luck! Hopefully we'll meet in Fall 2012. I don't know what I'm going to do until we find out in April... I may just take a random class to occupy my mind. BTW, When are you going to submit your application? I think I'm going to start gathering my transcripts in September and probably submit my application by October. I didn't want to send my application too early since the deadline is all the way in December.

Charity SON Fall 2012
Hello Everyone! I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score? I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God! I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

Hesi A2 Test Prep :Chemistry and Biology
i didn't have to take the chemistry part but i did take the biology part. like you, i haven't taken a biology course in years. i used the mcgraw hill and the evolve study guides and i would say every biology question on the test was in one of those 2 study guides. i ended up with a 96% on the biology section. it definitely was not that bad. i went through the the evolve study guide and created my own notes, then i read and highlighted the mcgraw hill guide, then i went back over the notes i created and the highlighted parts of my mcgraw hill book and that was all i needed. hth! good luck!

Took my HESI A2 this morning!
Thanks everyone! @thehopeful No, I don't remember any of the specific questions. I am so horrible with that. It's like I take a test then I block everything from my mind. I would just recommend that you are very familiar with all of the concepts in the Evolve study guide as well as the one by McGraw Hill. No need to bring out your old notes or textbook. @kgurien Don't study too hard tonight. The best thing you can do is get some good sleep. By the time I finished the test I was brain dead. It took me about 3 hours to do all of those sections plus the critical thinking part. MAke sure you let us know how you do. Good luck!

A&P Section on the HESI A2... how in depth do I need to go?
I took the HESI yesterday and although I did worse on the A&P section than any of the others, I would suggest using the Evolve study guide as well as the one by McGraw Hill. I personally think the material is presented very well in the McGraw Hill study guide. I used the evolve study guide to make my own notes then I studied the McGraw Hill guide and then I went back over my notes. I scored 96% on the biology section and 80% on A&P and its been 10 years since I took biology and 6 years since I took A&P. That study guide you posted above looks like it covers all of the basic information but you still have to look everything up in a textbook/online and make your own study guide from it. Good luck!

HESI A2 exam in the morning!
@bbroge143 Thank you! You will do fine, don't worry. I was really worried about the test because it has been 10 years since I took biology and 6 years since I last took A&P but it really wasn't that bad. I think the hardest part for most people is the math section, which really wasn't that hard. You just have to make sure you can do every single problem in the book by hand. There is a calculator on the test but if you don't know how to do the problems manually you still won't do well. The A&P section was the most difficult for me. To study for that I would just recommend using the Evolve study guide and the one by McGraw Hill. It's really not that much information so if you study well you will be prepared. I've seen a lot of people saying that they reviewed their old A&P notes to help study for the test but IMO that is just a bit overwhelming. Especially if you took the class 6 years ago. Good luck!

HESI A2 exam in the morning!
I took the Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary and General Knowledge, Biology, A&P, and Math sections. I used the evolve study guide as well as the one by McGraw Hill. The one by McGraw Hill was good for the Biology/A&P section but I used the evolve one for everything else. Overall, the test was not that bad at all. I actually feel like I overstudied. "Floridatrail2006" posted some very useful information on this website: https://sites.google.com/site/apinnerworkings/. I made my own studied guides for Bio/A&P using the material presented in the study guides. I would recommend that you know how to do all of the math problems by hand and also know the conversions. You will do fine! Good Luck!

Took my HESI A2 this morning!
Hello everyone! I took my exam this morning and I must say that it wasn't that bad. I got a 92.33% overall and this was my first time taking it. To prepare for the exam I used the evolve study guide as well as the mcgraw hill study guide. I used the mcgraw hill guide for the Biology section only and I studied the other sections from the evolve study guide. I took A&P 6 years ago. Please note: The math section DOES have a calculator. It's on the bottom right of the testing screen. I got to question 46 of 55 before I even realized a calculator was there. I did all of those problems by hand! Anyway, for anyone who cares to know, my scores are below. Good luck to everyone still waiting to take the exam! Reading Comprehension: 92% Grammar: 98% Vocabulary and General Knowledge: 88% Biology: 96% A&P: 80% Math: 100%

Happy Sunday everyone! I have my exam bright and early tomorrow morning and I was wondering if anyone had any last minute pointers or study tips? Thanks!

Nursing school student loans/scholarships/grants for those with a bachelor's degree.
Thank you everyone for your responses! I think maybe I have too many credit hours because all together I have around 150 credit hours. I was very indecisive when I started college and I ended up changing my major twice and eventually I had to change schools because the private school I was going to at first was VERY expensive.

Nursing school student loans/scholarships/grants for those with a bachelor's degree.
Thanks maccheese! My current job does not offer tuition reimbursement. I work for the state government and they barely want to pay us! LOL. I think I'm going to start looking at local hospitals to see what kind of jobs I may be eligible for with my Bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Nursing school student loans/scholarships/grants for those with a bachelor's degree.
Hello everyone! I am a single mother of a 2 year old little boy and I am planning to go to nursing school in Fall of 2012. I already have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and when I was previously looking into going back to school for something else, the financial aid advisor told me that because I already have a bachelor's degree I wouldn't be able to get financial aid to get a 2nd bachelor's degree in something else. I already have a massive amount of student loan debt from my first degree so I'm not really looking forward to getting additional student loans but I definitely will if I have to. Right now I have a job that barely pays me enough to pay the bills so I am not able to save anything for school. I'm hoping you guys can give me some advice. Does anyone know of any special nursing school student loans/scholarships/grants? Thanks!

Evolve HESI-A2 Study Guide/A&P
Hello Everyone! I am planning to take the HESI-A2 exam on August 22, 2011 and I just had a few questions about how to prepare for the exam. I just received my Evolve reach study guide today and I am totally surprised to see that the A&P section is only about 12 pages. I can not imagine that you can fit a year of A&P into just 12 pages. MY first question is for people who have already taken the HESI-A2 and used the Evolve study guide. Is everything you need to know about A&P in the study guide? I know the practice questions are not going to be repeated but I'm just trying to figure out if I need to study additional material or if the study guide contains all of the necessary information. For the people who are still studing for the HESI-A2, how are you preparing for the A&P section? I feel totally overwhelmed by the amount of information they could pull questions from. Also, if anyone has a useful study guide, please email it to me: [email protected] Good Luck Future Nurses!

Charity's HESI sections?
Print out your unofficial transcripts and go talk to the science advisor... That's what worked for me. I had a hold on my account because the admissions office hadn't processed my transcripts (that they had already received). I brought my transcripts to my advisor so she could check for pre-reqs then I had to bring them to the admissions office so they could remove the hold. If u need the list of advisors send me your email address and I will send it to you. O, and one more thing. After I finally got registered for my classes I realized that they billed the application fee to my account twice. No one over the phone can help so it looks like I'll be going back to Delgado for the 5th time...

Charity's HESI sections?
Per http://www.dcc.edu/campus/charity/HESI_information.pdf, "The HESI A 2 is a timed, computerized test with the following sections: Math, Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Biology and Anatomy and Physiology." I am planning to take the test on 8/22. Delgado is so unorganized. I called the testing center on the westbank to ask them if I could go to the city park campus to pay and register to take the exam on the westbank and the person on the phone told me yes. So I go there, fill out the forms and pay only to find out that I have to take my paperwork to the west bank to register. I'm so frustrated. I went to Delgado, 3 times last week just trying to register for 2 classes and sign up for the exam!

Baton Rouge General School of Nursing
Ok, thanks! What professor are you taking? Are you taking the lab as well? For anyone else looking for an online course, Clovis Community College has A&P I & II and Microbiology incl. the labs online. I don't know if the credits are accepted everywhere but they do have a nursing program so they should be.

Baton Rouge General School of Nursing
I'm checking their website and I don't see an online physiology class offered for Summer or Fall 2011
